La Vid Argentina — Restaurant in Mexico City

I want to be clear and say I never ate here. Seeing the reviews now I think it deserves another go..... I went in with the intention of eating but I'm ashamed to say I couldn't figure it out. I was told they had a buffet so I sat down and ordered a very nice dirty martini. I strolled up to the buffet and my first thought was this is it? It was very sparse and the pastas looked horrible. I thought perhaps it gets better so I sat down and was informed the buffet is not open! Ok, what to do. A concept they have called Cena Libre. Which I guess is a buffet but they bring it to the table instead of going up to the buffet... My Spanish is very basic but I speak French, English and Italian. I asked if they had the menu in English but no... Ultimately I decided it was too much to take in and enjoyed my martini (very good by the way) and left without eating. All the waiters were very nice and good trying to explain to me the concept which I think actually confused the matter more lol! I'll give it another shot. You'll see I didn't rate the food but thought the service was very good and I did enjoy...

The food was good but the waiters there are a big problem, they seem to be trained to cheat clients by selling them things they do not need and adding these things to the food they bring you then they charge you for it, the waiter was selling to us all the time we were at the place things we didn't need since we have already asked a tenedor libre that was open buffet without letting us know that these things were not included in the open buffet which is a kind of cheating, until we got fed up of that policy. Also the variety of meat and other dishes are very few in that branch, also waiters are greedy about tips in that restaurant, the guy demanded the tip amount instead of letting us the client decide how much we would give them based on the level of service and...

My husband and I chose to come to this spot very last minute and we could not be more grateful that we did. Not only was the food incredible - both in presentation and how it was cooked - but the service was top tier. We could not stop talking about Emiliano our server. What a joy of a human being. He truly made us feel welcomed from a long day of travel & the perfect end to our night. Emiliano cared about small details most servers would toss out & he was thoughtful & caring throughout. The rest of the staff was also very attentive and kind.
