THEY TRIED TO SCAM US
We went to this place for rooftop drinks. It seemed like a cool bar, lovely setting with great DJs and music. The drinks menu was a bit limited (example - several champagnes but no white or red wine). So at first it seemed great and we were having some relaxed drinks there.
The problem came at the end of the night when the waiter started enthusiastically encouraging us to have one more round of drinks before we closed our tab. He individually told 3 of us that he would do us a special deal on drinks on our last round - charging only 200 pesos for 3 drinks. He then billed this upfront, closed off our tab and walked off.
The scam was that (when we flagged him down to ask about the ‘one last round of drinks’) he claimed we had misunderstood and we had been talking about his tip. The 3 of us all speak Spanish, weren’t drunk and he had enthusiastically conveyed through his body language that we should get ‘one last round’ several times to all 3 of us AND we had clarified the deal with him including the cost per drink.
We demanded the extra money back which resulted in a long drawn out discussion between our waiter and the manager. The editor attempted to bring some (not all) of the money back but we made it clear that wasn’t acceptable.
We did eventually get all the extra money back for the ‘last round’.
It’s a real shame as it’s a nice setting and I see the restaurant seems to usually be good quality. Unfortunately it is NEVER acceptable to scam your customers for your own benefit. If you want to try Peruvian food or rooftop bars in Mexico City please look for a well reviewed...
Read moreAn upscale place from the valet parking to the décor. Large open spaces at the reception and natural light make a beautiful building. Tables are spacious and avoid crowdedness. However, the food is rather lacking in variety. Many traditional Peruvian delicacies are missing from the menu such as Chicha Morada, trout and Cuy. The bathroom signs are Venetian carnival masks, which are rather inconsistent with the restaurant theme. The food is rather good, but not without flaws. Rarer steaks are served without waiting for the flesh to reabsorb it's juices and as such, they spill them on the plate, where they alter the taste of the sauces they are served with. Desserts are rather cloying and the differences between them are not very well explained. The service is good, although the waiters may rather need more training, such as in having a menu ready for when the clients arrive, or better knowledge of the dishes. Last but not least, the price is quite high. In conclusion, I find Lima 700 to be pleasant. It was not quite what I expected, however I do not regret dining there. While the prices are high for what the restaurant offers, I wouldn't call them outrageous. All in all, a good experience, though nothing that makes...

If you're craving Peruvian food in Mexico City, look no further than Lima 700. It's easily one of the best, and their ceviche is an absolute must-try. The restaurant itself is really beautiful and comes alive at night.
The Good: Amazing Peruvian Food: Truly top-notch. Must-Try Ceviche: Seriously, order it. Beautiful Ambiance (Especially at Night): The place looks fantastic in the evening. Pisco Sour Available: Don't miss out on this classic Peruvian cocktail.
The Not-So-Good: Difficult Parking: Parking can be a challenge. Valet Available: Thankfully, they offer valet parking. Sunny Terrace Issues: If you're seated on the terrace when the sun is strong, you might need to ask them to close the curtain for comfort.
The Bottom Line: For incredible Peruvian cuisine and a great atmosphere (especially for a night out), Lima 700 is a fantastic choice. Just be prepared for potential parking woes, utilize the valet service, and be aware of the sun on the terrace...
