Great bakery for anyone searching for all gluten free + vegan options.
My weekly items:
The pan de caja is good for anyone craving toast / sandwich options - just make sure to heat it up out of the bag so it’s softer.
My favorite item by far are the “flour” tortillas - these are literally BETTER than regular flour tortillas. Buy them!! I would give ten stars to these if I could.
Second fave are the empanadas - again, for maximum deliciousness make sure to toast them a bit so the dough softens and the filling oozes.
The cinnamon roll is also delicious but same advice - make sure to heat it up in the oven.
My least favorite:
The doughnuts look good but they are never soft enough for me - the bread is always tough and the icing on the doughnuts breaks apart when you bite into it. This is the only item I don’t like!
Overall, an oasis for bread lovers who can’t eat gluten and prefer...
Read moreGreat gluten free bakery. In addition, their bread is lactose free, sugar free (they use agave syrup instead for some types of bread), and egg free. Which is great for me since I’m intolerant to FODMAPs. Their bread for sandwiches is great, you just need to store it in the fridge and it will last you over a week. I also like their bread with chocolate (negritos). Of course the taste of this bread is different from regular bread (less delicious), but it’s a good alternative for people with these dietary restrictions. I also like that they offer a wide variety of bread. I think prices are fair in comparison to other gluten free bread. They accept...
Read morePan Gabriel is a small, health-focused bakery in Condesa that specializes in organic and alternative baked goods. It’s more of a grab-and-go spot than a sit-down café, with a selection that caters to specific dietary preferences like gluten-free, vegan, or low-sugar.
We tried a few items to sample the range — the strawberry empanada, some bread, and their wheat tortillas. The empanada had a mild flavor and wasn’t overly sweet, which may be a plus for some but felt a bit underwhelming. The tortillas had a great texture but an unusual aftertaste that stood out. The other bread items we picked up were similarly neutral in flavor — nothing particularly memorable, but not bad either.
Overall, Pan Gabriel seems to prioritize clean ingredients and health-conscious recipes, which is great if that’s your focus. Just keep in mind that the taste and richness typical of more traditional baked goods might not be what you’ll find here.
