Panizzeria Mezzo Mezzo — Restaurant in Mexico City

Gem. Like some other folks, I popped in one night just because they were the only place open. I didn’t expect anything special, to be honest. I had a pasta that was pretty good along with a quite nice house red. It was late, the food was good, the wine was good, good tunes, great service. Super relaxing. I enjoyed it all enough to have another wine and dessert, also good. I told my guy, “if you keep playing this music, I will have to stay for another wine.” He laughed and brought the bottle for another fill. Great, friendly, relaxing experience all around. I returned a week or so later, specifically for the pizza. It was mid afternoon on a weekend, more of a crowd, families. Different vibe, different server, still friendly, still great service. I had a split pizza that was good, but they serve it with a house salsa matcha and a house pesto. WOW! Both worked great with my pizza choices! Practically addicting. Still went with the house red and it was delicious. I was tempted by the daily dessert/drink, El Colonel, a limon ice with vodka. Cold, tart, and refreshing. Again, I left happy. Pésimo servicio, jamás me había sentido tan frustrado, enojado y mal atendido en un lugar. La comida es buena, cumple su función, sin embargo, había un tipo calvo de tatuajes en el cuello que no solo me incomodó a mi, sino a todos nuestros acompañantes. Una actitud apática, prepotente, burlona y fastidiosa. Hace unas semanas había asistido con compañeros y una chica nos comentó que manejaban una especie de “menú” donde se contemplaban algunos platos e incluso una copa de vino u otra bebida, en fin. Desde el inicio este tipo hizo un comentario fuera de lugar. Dijo “nosotros no somos fonda” y algo más. Desde ahí me sentí molesto con su actitud pero decidí dar una oportunidad. El muy cobarde, cuando me voltee me comenta una compañera que hizo un comentario a la cocina “Ya vamos a hacer chicharrón en salsa” o algo así, claramente cosas que hace un cobarde cuando estás volteado. Posteriormente solicitamos una pizza y dijo que no, que no tenían pizza, GENERALIZANDO. Le pregunté entonces que qué era lo que tenía y dijo que todo, insistí entonces que pizzas tenía listas. E hizo otro comentario “Las preparamos al momento” pues claramente que se preparan al momento, lo entiendo perfectamente, pero hice la pregunta porque había negado tener pizzas en general. Ya después me comentó que la pizza Boloñesa era la única que no podían preparar. Posteriormente, solicite cubiertos y servilletas porque tampoco había y me tuve que voltear a solicitarlas y de una manera fastidiosa me dijo “Si me esperas, si me permites?” En un tono conflictivo. Para terminar con la cereza del pastel pedí la cuenta, de tardó 15 minutos, me tuve que parar yo y otra persona me tuvo que cobrar. Realmente es que por esa clase de personas a uno se le quitan las ganas de asistir nuevamente. Si hay algún encargado que pueda leer estas reseñas le recomendaría cambiar de personal porqué afectan su negocio. Haciendo comparaciones de restaurantes de la zona con misma temática como Matti y Cancino, queda mucho a deber. We went there thinking that this is nearby and would become out go to pizza place. Not so by a mile.

We bought 2 soups and only requested one extra empty bowl to give a little portion to a senior who went with us. They charged for 3 soups. Never have I ever paid for an empty bowl before anywhere from street food to Ritz Carlton (which is where we were last night in fact). The soup was cold and insipid, by the way.

Also, food was bad overall. Too much salt. Avoid this place and thank me later. Only good thing was they gave one hot water that we requested. I guess they were disappointed that we didn’t buy a bottle and thought to charge for an empty...
