Went to their CDMX branch, in Polanco this last Sunday July 3rd,2022. Expected to have an amazing dinner but it quickly turned into a meh experience. Place is trendy with a nice ambience, rock music and low light. I asked a Kikusui sake bottle which arrived fast along with ice service to cool it down. After that, we started having some hiccups. We order our appetizers and main dishes all at once, Brussels sprouts, kampachi sashimi, shishito peppers, miso soup, voodoo roll, chutoro nigiri, and sra Tanaka roll. After repeating the order twice to the waiter, he decided to take out pen and paper and asked me to repeat whole order again, for a third time, so he could write it down. Sprouts and peppers came first, the sprouts were crunchy and delicious, peppers were tasteless and I used the sprouts sauce to try to give them some flavor. Sashimi came next, fish had a nice color and flavor was really nice. That was the last dish we had for forty minutes! Our waiter disappeared and no one came around even to refill our sake cups. After asking a couple of waiters to check on our soup and main dishes, one waiter came to ask us what dishes we were missing, I again repetead, for the fourth time, our order, just for him to come back, after some 10-15 minutes with two miso soups and two nigiris. Requested him to take back the extra soup and extra nigiri since I have ordered just one of each. Miso soup had a good flavor although portion was small (about an hour had already passed since we were seated and I was starving!). Chutoro had good color and tasteful, really enjoyed the fatty in it. We were still missing our main dishes, the two rolls, again asked a couple of waiters to check on my order. After some 20 more minutes a waiter came and told me that the kitchen didn't had my order! And if I could tell him again what were my main dishes. Repetead, for the fifth time my order of the two rolls. Finally my rolls arrived, voodoo was quite nice, salmon tartar had a good flavor. Sra Tanaka roll on the other side was quite unamuzing, mayonese flavor was strong and it over came every other ingredient in that roll, definetly I do not recommend it. For dessert I asked for a creme brulee only to know that they do not offer it in CDMX, only in their MTY branch (then why have it in their digital menu?) so instead the waiter recommended the apple choux. I requested one choux and one americano for dessert. Choux was delicious, and had a ginger ice cream which made a good combination with the bread and apple, the coffee never arrived, I didn't even bother to ask for it again. Requested the check, which was brought promptly and there was a huge mistake, the sake bottle was not charged. Asked the waiter to correct it which took him 15 more minutes. Around three hours passed between I was seated and being charged. Sake bottle I ordered was about 1,900 MXN (95 USD) and food was another 1,800 MXN (90 USD). For that amount of money you would expect better food and waaaaaay better service.
TLDR: Sra. Tanaka is not worth more than one visit to get to know the place. For a better service and more tasteful food for the same price, go elsewhere, for...
Read moreSeñora Tanaka Masaryk is a hidden gem that left a lasting impression on me during my recent visit.
I often explore different establishments during my travels, and even though my intention was to assess the vibe and sample a cocktail, the experience exceeded my expectations.
From the moment I stepped inside, the staff's attentiveness was truly commendable. They greeted me warmly and remained attentive throughout my visit, ensuring that I felt comfortable and well-cared for. Their genuine passion for providing exceptional service was evident.
One aspect that stood out was the remarkable collection of Japanese whiskey and liquor available at Señora Tanaka Masaryk. As a whiskey enthusiast, I was thrilled to discover their selection, which included the exquisite Nikka single malt and comfy malt. It's always a pleasure when a restaurant goes the extra mile to curate an impressive variety for their patrons.
I indulged in a whiskey sour during my time there, and it was nothing short of fantastic. Victor crafted my drink with Bulleit bourbon, one of my personal favorites for this cocktail, the drink struck the perfect balance of flavors, offering a delightful blend of richness and tanginess. It was evident that their mixologists possess great skill and creativity.
Beyond the libations, Señora Tanaka Masaryk's ambiance added to the overall allure of the place. The cool vibe permeated the air, creating an atmosphere that was simultaneously chic and inviting. The beautiful decor, with its clever incorporation of black tones merging seamlessly with lush decoration, added a touch of elegance and natural beauty to the surroundings and great music.
In conclusion, my visit to Señora Tanaka Masaryk was a truly great experience. The attentiveness of the staff, the exceptional collection of Japanese whiskey and liquor, and the delightful whiskey sour made my time there truly memorable. The cool and aesthetically pleasing vibe further enhanced the overall ambiance of the restaurant. I highly recommend visiting Señora Tanaka Masaryk for a unique and enjoyable dining experience.

Read moreRacist waiter My friend visited me in CDMX from the USA, it's their first day in Mexico, everything was perfect until we got into that bar! We already had our dinner and would like to find a fancy place for a couples of cocktails, the restaurant looks good and has a bar, so we came in. We told the recipt lady We just order cocktails, but we want to sit in a table, rather than the bar desk, she told us it's ok, and brought us to a table. Then a waiter came to serve us, but when he knew that we’d order only cocktails no food, he suddenly changed his face and told us loudly and rudely that if we only order cocktail we cannot sit in the table! He spoke in Spanish, even though he knows we are foreigners! I asked him to confirm this with the receipt lady, he left and came back later, saying nothing to us, no apologize, and when we paid and left, he didn't even say goodbye to us! What made me sooo angry is that, i saw so many tables ordering only drinks no food, but the waiter only drove us away, only because we are foreigners?????! If so you’d better warn all customer that : no food, no table! And : foreigners not welcomed!...
