We were supposed to go to Contramar but not having found a place, my friend and I on vacation in Mexico City went to Entremar. The place is classic, clean with friendly staff but in my opinion overly rushed and pressed. You would not finish things on your plate that would be taken away in a second, take a sip of water and they would run to refill your glass to bring you another expensive bottle. We had several dishes, a tostada with raw fish, ceviche, octopus and potatoes, black rice, and tacos. The food was pretty good, nothing exceptional compared to other places we ate in Mexico City, the black rice didn't really excite us. We left half a plate of it there. I assure you that we are good forks with experience in many restaurants of even high level. Total expense for 2 without wine is about $60 each. I am leaving a negative review, for food and service it would not be higher than 3, because about 1 hour after dinner my friend and I were very sick, with severe intestinal discomfort that ruined our last two days in Mexico City, having to give up the tours we had booked and all the plans we had made, and made the long trip back very complicated. We contacted the venue to report what had happened and at least ask for a refund for dinner, and they offered to pay the pharmacy fees..which was totally...

This is why people hate coming to restaurants! Just as we began to look at the menu a waiter appeared and asked what we wanted to drink. We told him we needed a few minutes and he proceeded to stand and breathe down our necks as we looked at the wine menu. After we ordered drinks, we told the waiter we needed a few minutes to decide on appetizers. Our waiter was intolerable - he pushed us to order appetizers and then started pressuring us and to ordering the grilled octopus and whole fish, the priciest items in restaurant. We wanted to spend a few minutes with the menu but they wouldn't allow it, they just stood at our table side waiting, or they would leave and come back in 45 seconds. The most awkward and uncomfortable meal I've ever had. At the very end, we left leaving a paltry tip in the waiter asked us to leave more. They pressured the tables around us into ordering the $50 whole fish so I guess this "sales" strategy working for them. The ceviche and sea bass fillet were good, but the octopus tostadas were forgettable. Overall horrible rushed service like they were trying to flip our table in 20 minutes even though there were empty tables around us. They need to realize that people come to restaurants not only for food, but for good conversation and entertainment. You're rushing people...

Embark on a culinary journey to the acclaimed Entremar in Mexico City, helmed by Chef Gabriela Camara – a surefire way to kickstart any trip with pure delight! 🎉 From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped in an ambiance of timeless charm and hospitality that felt like a warm embrace. And as for the cuisine? It's a revelation of unparalleled deliciousness! 🌟

My sole mission? To relish in the renowned pescado alla talla. But before diving into that culinary masterpiece, we indulged in some briny oysters – because, why not commence the feast with a bang? 💥 And let me tell you, friends, the pescado alla talla exceeded all expectations! Picture this: a whole grilled fish, meticulously seasoned with signature rubs. Half adorned with a fiery red adobo rub, the other with a refreshing parsley rub – each bite a symphony of flavors! And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, the fig tart emerged, transporting me straight to dessert bliss. 😋

But here's the kicker: when our server presented a special treat from Chef Gabriela herself, I was rendered speechless. How can someone so remarkably talented remain so genuinely humble? 😭 A heartfelt tribute to Chef Gabriela for crafting an unforgettable dining experience – truly a...

Food was 3.5/5, service 4/5, atmosphere 2/5. While we enjoyed everything we ordered especially the tuna tostadas (would have ordered several!), the menu lacked a voice and felt disjointed. The tuna tostadas are great, the shrimp aguachile had a strange texture (too chewy) but good flavor, the pasta con almejas was good but didn't feel like it was from the same chef/restaurant, and the fish was good but the sauces on top were only okay. Compared to the other amazing restaurants we enjoyed in CDMX, this was good but not great. The menu felt dated and the location, while being next to a nice park, was so loud inside (room carried the noise so much from the inside and from street noise outside) and felt very dated, and it lost that modern feel of contramar. And despite having white tablecloths, the place was really casual and we were in and out in 45 min, which felt very strange for a nice dinner with drinks, two apps and two entrees served one at a time. To sum it up, the food was good albeit disjointed, but the experience and place was odd. Wish we had a better experience, we won't be returning here and would not recommend this place over the many other options in CDMX.

Maybe the problem was that I set my expectations high on this restaurant, I’m not sure. But it definitely didn’t meet them. Disappointed for sure. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. I didn’t eat the tuna tostada but from what I heard this was the best thing on the table that night. The signature fish dish was decent. The pasta with clams was fine too but also tasted like I could’ve made that at home, nothing interesting or special about it. The service was what bothered me the most. Even though we ordered salads, apps, pasta and entrees, we still ended up finishing in an hour. It was almost like they were overstaffed and they were rushing us through the meal. We were definitely not ready every time they came to take our order but it happened so frequently that we ended up just picking things. Everything came out one right after the other without even having time to change plates. They started taking away plates literally as my friends were still eating the fish! We hadnt even put our forks down yet! It made the meal super on edge and unenjoyable. I don’t recommend this restaurant.
