Inconspicuously located in an alley, the easy to miss VFT does a decent job with their fried tofu offering: great battered outside texture but with room for improvement on increasing the inside mass.
Their namesake dish convincingly tastes and feels like chicken, but the real star of the show is the mashed potatoes - smoothed textured with just the right balance of flavors.
I recommend ordering the lonely combo which includes 3 pieces of fried tofu, 1 biscuit, and your choice of salad or mashed potatoes…but obviously you should get the mashed potatoes. Even more so, without the mashed potatoes the biscuit is too dry to enjoy on itself, something that VFT could also improve on.
The Good: Amazing customer service. Friendly, professional, and eager to answer any questions. The great service alone moved my review up from 3 start to 4. I LOVED the mashed potatoes. The container keeps them warm for a nice extended amount of time, and texture and flavor wise they’re everything you could ask for in comfort mash potatoes. Accepts credit card payments
The Okay • The inside contents of the fried tofu need to be retooled with more fullness. Taste-wise the it did not disappoint, I mean fried food is delicious. • The biscuit had a good taste but the dryness (texture) really killed its performance.
The Bad Nothing.
Sometime next month they’ll be launching burgers, and I’ll be coming back with an updated review on...
Read moreHaving eaten at many vegan places all over the world, this was one of the worst.
You need to practically beg for attention from the waiters to even get the menu card. The food is terrible and there are no drinks available except for some cucumber water.
I got the lunch combo, which includes 2 mashed potatoes, 6 pieces of fried tofu, and 3 pieces of biscuit.
To start, the tofu is bland and has no taste. Food is completely unseasoned, lacking even the slightest hint of salt. It is just crunchy air.
Then on to the gravy, it seems like they put all the salt on the gravy instead. The mashed potatoes is jelly like and has little jelly pieces, which indicates this is either packaged mashed potatoes or old reheated mashed potatoes. Not silky, not creamy, or anything you deserve from some mashed potatoes.
Biscuits are flavourless and dry, it felt like eating cardboard.
I only ate one piece of this whole meal and did not even consider bringing the rest back home. I did decide to pay, while the waiter was waiting and standing to see if I would tip her.

Read moreWonderful place! A little hard to find - there are only 3 tables on the side of the building and we were not sure we were in the right place. However, later we found there is a door bell under the sign on the street side to let the staff know you are there. Delicious food (and plenty of it!) especially if you are in need of some comfort food! Best of all, the woman who helped us and served us was THE BEST! We explained our español was very poor and she explained everything very clearly and slowly. Between our broken spanish and her pretty good english, we ordered and even asked a few questions - she was so helpful !! She even said the tips from the restaurant go to help rescue dogs - yay! We will be back. Loved the comfortable...
