Doña Tere Nuevo Vallarta — Restaurant in Nayarit

I was so disappointed with this experience. I don't know if it was just an off day, but the food and drinks were terrible. Almost everything was severely undersalted, and the lemonade was very watery. The shrimp in my aguachile were slimy, squishy little things with very little flavour in the sauce. Maybe this extra raw version is normal, but I didn't enjoy it, and was not my experience at a different place yesterday. We also ordered jalapeño poppers, which are ginormous and spicy, but again, the breading had zero flavour. I am not someone who salts my food, but it was severely lacking. I tried salting them but gave up and just ate the jalapeños. My partner ordered wings, which were fine, but his Mexican Platter again had very little flavour. We really had to salt the pozole to make it taste like anything. The server was super nice but my boyfriend accidentally overpaid (tipped over 30%), and the server did not question it. In fact, as soon as we paid we no longer existed. It felt like we stiffed him rather than overpaid. I’m sad to write this review because the food was great, but the service ruined the experience, specifically because of our waiter. He ignored us all night!! Guests around us received their orders before us, even though we had ordered first. It became uncomfortable when my boyfriend noticed we were the only POCs in the restaurant and the only ones being ignored, despite having a higher-paying ticket.

Things got worse when we asked for the bill. The waiter never came back, and after waiting over half an hour, I had to go to the cashier to pay. One of the items we ordered was part of a promotion, but it required cash, which the waiter failed to mention when recommending it, we only had USD. When the cashier and another waiter asked him to come over and help resolve the issue, he became argumentative and tried to start a fight. My boyfriend had to intervene to de-escalate the situation.

If you are a foreigner, you don't have much knowledge about Mexican food and you don't mind eating without seasoning, this place is for you. But if you are Mexican or foreigner who wants to try delicious food, avoid this place at all costs. The food lacks seasoning, it is tasteless, the place is full of foreigners because there is nothing else nearby and they have no other reference for good food.
