El Chivero — Restaurant in Nayarit

Absolutely the worst restaurant in Bucerias. Avoid it at all costs. They brought my wife’s meal and the made me wait a full hour more for mine even after multiple reminders. I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, lobster and when it came out an hour after my wife had finished her lunch, it was so burned and frankly horrible that I am sure a seagull wouldn’t eat it. I have spent every winter in Mexico for 30 years and this is the worst meal I have ever had in this great country.

We complained to multiple employees and all of them agreed that the service and the food was terrible. One of them confided to us that the kitchen was a problem and that they turned out bad food and then blamed the servers for the complaints.

Bottom line: just avoid this place unless you like incredibly bad food and horrible service .

Have been here before and enjoyed it. I had seafood soup and my friend had shrimp that tasted fishy. We ate half of it. With lunch and one Margarita each we asked for the bill. It was $1200 pesos plus tip. We left that amount including tip in cash and handed it directly to the waiter. Prior to that we both counted it and it was correct. As we walked away about 25 feet away the bus boy came running after us saying we were $600 pesos short. We were shocked but gave him the money. In hindsight we should have walked back and asked for the supervisor to sort it out. Bad experience that was unacceptable. El Chivero is in the nice little town of Bucerius, 30 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. It is a bar and restaurant located on a beach, looking at the rolling waves of the Pacific. I have had 2 meals here. One was a mid morning breakfast and the second was a lunch around 1 PM. Both had very good food. The servesa was cold My toes were in the sand and the service was friendly and quick. They offer free loungers close to the water and continued service after a meal.
