We wanted to eat at a more local restaurant in Sayulita. We were attracted to El Jakal because of the good reviews and photos. We were disappointed about the service from minute 1. We order a guacamole and after 10 mins asked if we could get it before the food, she was rude to my wife and my mother in law. We ask for our drinks and in a bad mood said they were getting prepared. She came after 5 min and ask what we had ordered because she had forgotten. The guacamole was delicious, so was the salsas. I ordered a tuna tostada and the tuna was not fresh. It was stinky and abut brown in some pieces. I also got a Marlín tostada and it was ok. Not as fresh as I would have thought. I do not recommend this place, bad service and some food is not worth the prices

Honestly, quite nice. Owner is perfectly bilingual. Food is delicious, with unique options, and affordable (I can't stress how BIG a plus this is, otherwise I'd have probably never come). Tequila shrimp was tasty, coconut shrimp with pineapple sauce was well prepared too with fresh perfectly cooked fish. The real starts of the show were the tostadas at 25P... Both smoked marlin and ceviche fish were amazing. I'd almost have preferred to eat only that, they were THAT good. Homemade sauces were also a bit different than the usual and well done. Overall, I'll definitely be back. P.S. Personally I won't retake that coconut shrimp though, turns out I'm not as big a coconut fan as I though.

The food is not good and the services is horrible, I really encourage you to find some other place I promise you won’t have an easy time here. Everything will take too long and you will have some trouble ordering food. Almost forgot to mention, they didn’t have most of the things in the menu. And the funniest thing of all was that they charged us for things they never served us lol. I’m honestly not even mad anymore, this place is a joke and if you are looking for bad service with bad food and extra charge for things they forget to serve you this is your place. Carbon Sayulita is a better restaurant or the tostada place around the corner is way tastier ( Estrella de Mar Mariscos)

If you don't try El Jakal, you'll have missed a special treat. Our third trip to Sayulita and El Jakal is ALWAYS a 'must visit' multiple times per trip. If you love Red Snapper (or fish in general), ask for it before you sit down. I was lucky enough to get the last order tonight and will order another one if available before we leave. The best fish I've ever tasted! A fresh whole Snapper, seasoned and fried to perfection every time. Simply delicious! ...and the Coconut shrimp are the best we've ever tasted also. The fresh seafood tostadas are OUTSTANDING as a starter and use the unique housemade sauces, you will become an instant fan. I'm rarely overly impressed by a resturant, but this food and service blows me away every time. Its been 3 years since we visited, and it was better than we remembered it. LOVE THIS PLACE, and the new ower Juan has not only maintained the outstanding quality, but also has kept the prices VERY reasonable. Fantastic value, especially if you seek delicious, well prepared,...

Easily my favorite sit down restaurant in Sayulita. Obviously thier famous coconut shrimp are... otherworldly? Ethereal? Any other phrase you can think of that means "one of the best things I've ever eaten?" If you get it before it sells out, the whole fried snapper is amazing. The marlin empanada is top notch. The passion fruit and shrimp augachile is one of the best iterations I've had. Excellent Margheritas as well. And all of this for some of the most reasonable prices around. Excellent value for money. My advice is to go there enough that the LOVELY and charming Angelica will remember your drink order and to bring extra napkins for your messy but very enthusiastic table mate....
