Came in here fully loaded after watching the sunset over at the St. Regis. We were gonna eat there, but it would have left our pockets on life support... although this simply is a "I need to raise my income" problem, so that's on me.
The 5 of us stumbled into La Pescadora with no reservation on a Saturday night and waited 10 minutes at the bar before we were seated about 20 feet from the water, feet in the sand.
They have sort of flood lights pointed to the edge of the water so you can see the tide move up and down which is an amazing touch tbh. These small details really do take an experience from good to great. I'm beginning to see that more and more...
Upon being seated, I remembered that this is the place that serves the piña colada that has been touched by the hand of god himself. Legit the best piña I've ever had. Better than anywhere in Puerto Rico which is the birthplace of the piña. But to be fair, it's a lot of factors that add to my sense of taste: the ambiance is perfect, glassware is ELITE, they pour extra rum on top of your piña right in front of you, my feet are literally in the sand with small waves breaking 20 feet from me, etc. BUT IT ALSO IS JUST A BOMB PINA SO GET OFF MY HEAD!
I looked up how to say "heavy pour" in Spanish and began chanting "VERTER PESADO! VERTER PESADO!" as he was about to pour the rum and boy did our server oblige. It was a verter pesado fr.
We ordered guac to start and this is one of those places where they make it right in front of you, which was another amazing detail. Good to great.
At this point a mariachi band came around and took song requests. The piña began to take the wheel so I'm blanking on the songs but they were eatin it up. Thank god we had cash to tip, that coulda been real ugly lol.
I ordered the catch of the day because I am a beast, and it legit tasted like it had been caught earlier in the day... I mean kind of a dumb comment from me lol it's literally called catch of the day, but nonetheless it was delicious and I demolished it like it owed me money. My nickname in high school was actually "Demolition Man."
I allegedly ate half of my girlfriend's burger and loved it, but at this point I think the piña really had full control of the wheel as I have no recollection of that. One of dem ones....
La Pescadora and La Rustica are now my 1a/1b favorite restaurants on that strip of beach in Punta Mita.
¡LA PESCADORA, SE LEVANTA!

Read moreBeen here very many times. The ambience is great if you're looking for a romantic dinner for two on the beach, or an afternoon of drinking cold cocktails seaside. Can be a bit pricey compared to some of the very nice off-beach places nearby, but the service is very good. Be prepared to wear shoes you can kick off or you'll have sand in you shoes during dinner. :)
I decided to add a little update here to help you make a good decision for a place to spend your time while in Punta de Mita. I often see reviews about how it's a "bit pricey" here, and I wanted to clarify that statement from my own multiple experiences here.
First, for a very high-class meal, including three nice drinks, an expensive tequila shot, dessert, and the generous gratuity was under forty dollars by myself. And that was going all out! I usually spend about twenty here for a very nice ceviche and a few cold beers. Yes, it is more expensive than some other places, BUT you are assured that they are very interested in staying sanitary and serving high quality, fresh food. And their portions are quite generous, too! Every meal starts with a small gourmet chef's creation and it just gets better from there. Secondly, I'm always served with impeccable grace by hard working people who want to make sure that I return. Nearly everyone there speaks English and will help you to learn Spanish if you ask. Third, you are paying to not have to do any beach work... They set up the chairs and umbrellas, the drinks are always ice cold, and there are clean bathrooms and beach showers close at hand. And there's always someone nearby who will answer your questions.
Overall, they are not expensive by US standards... You can't get all of that service and excellent food at most decent places in the US for forty dollars.... I know because I've traveled the US quite extensively. I've spent as much as $75 per person at some very fancy places there and not received nearly as attentive service.
As an expat, I just wanted to leave a real review by someone who had been there often enough to give you an idea of what to expect.
Enjoy Mexico!!

Read moreIF YOU DON’T VISIT LA PESCADORA ON YOUR VISIT TO PUNTA MITA OR PUERTO VALLARTA, YOU’RE MISSING OUT!!! This place was INCREDIBLE! We came here the 2nd night of our 9 day stay and we had a whole itenerary planned out but we HAD to cancel a different restraurant the last night in Punta Mita to come here again!!! This will be a detailed and long review : Edwin was our server the first night. He was so awesome! Sat us at the table we wanted in the sand, kept lighting the candles as they went out, food came out super quick, he got a bag holder for all our purses, took group photos, and even offered some bug spray for the baby. He was always refilling drinks! We ordered two Piña Coladas and they fill the liquor at the table and you say stop! One person got the Coconut shrimp which are HUGE! (Sauce is so so but they offer two so you have a variety of flavors atleast) I got the grouper in lemon capers and mahi in another flavor (me and my husband split it) but the star of the show was the Tuna TarTar appetizer!!! I came back the 2nd night just to order 2!!! One for my main meal and one for the table (and me 😉) I was telling our group, it may be my favorite dish, EVER! It’s different tasting but all the flavors and textures work perfectly together. Very unique taste but LOVELY! The 2nd night we sat in the same table but it began to storm. We moved under the enclosed area and continued on with our meal. Very easy process and they were very accommodating to our move. (As a server in high school I know how much extra work moving tables can be for servers) we left a gracious but well deserved tip both nights snd I will forever rave about this place. Beautiful atmosphere and view, amazing food, wonderful accommodating staff! What more could you want? And it’s very centrally located in Punta Mita (we stayed about 15 minutes away towards puerto Vallarta). I wish I was an influencer so I could rave about this place to everyone that’ll listen. But this will have to do, since I’m not 😅 oh and they made the salsa AND guacamole table side...
