My wife and I had dinner at Sandrina's last night. The space is lovely. We sat in the walled-in courtyard in the back surrounded by greenery and stone. To get there, you walk through a colorful shop full of bright art and other wares for sale. We ordered the Greek Platter and the stuffed pepper (to share). The latter was good, though not memorable. The former was very disappointing, especially the central Greek feature -- the spanakopita, which was soggy through and through and among the worst versions of this classic dish I've ever had. I ordered the lamb chops to accompany the platter, and while it's flavor was good, it was undercooked, still quite raw at the bone and not the medium-rare promised. A final disappointment of the evening came when we got the bill and saw they they charge double the cost for their "margarita of the night" -- basically, a regular margarita with a little ginger added to it. Our server had highly recommended it (of course) and it was a fine version of a margarita, but at double the cost of a regular one, and with no advance warning? It's an old restaurant trick, but it's still a trick. In the end, we left the restaurant with an unpleasant taste...
Read moreThe atmosphere is cool, but food is what’s most important:
Had the Spanakopita to start; it was very salty, greasy, lacked fluff and the filling was tough. Then shared a beef pita wrap, chicken pita wrap and a tilapia filet with my friends. Both wraps were dry (especially the chicken). The Tilapia was drenched in butter and not seasoned. To be fair, it was cooked perfectly temperature wise, tender and not dry at all. The asparagus, zucchini and mushrooms were not seasoned either. The best thing about the dish was a side of cheesy Polenta that came with it (At least I think it was Polenta; it’s not listed on the menu with the dish). Lastly, had the pear and blueberry crisp. It was umm, sort of just dry oatmeal thrown into a mix of blueberry mush and pieces of pear along with so much cinnamon that it felt like sand in my teeth.
All that said… A friend at the table ordered the warm Bri appetizer and I tried it - it was very good.
Another friend ordered the chicken parm on the Alfredo pasta and they said they very much enjoyed it.
Once in a while I’ll chalk it up to ordering the wrong thing. I can’t do that when the appetizer, mains and dessert...
Read moreThis place is absolutely adorable!!!! It's totally my style. I love the decor on the patio. We came during a light rain shower and sat on the patio under one of their palapas and we totally dry. They give you homemade bread sticks and biscuits with butter wrapped in corn husks. So cute! My husband the Mediterranean chicken, which came with a mashed potato, grilled vegetables and beets. I LOVE beets! I ordered the chicken souvlaki which came with a Greek salad. Unfortunately my dish was full of feta, which I love, but it seemed to be primarily feta. I was expecting a Greek salad with leaf lettuce and feta. The sangria was different too. We expected something different. The red sangria had some sort of a surprising allspice or cinnamon after taste, which was unexpected. The atmosphere and service was excellent but the food wasn't what...
