Nestled in the heart of the city in a quaint mall, my husband and I happened upon this restaurant and bar, which is an absolute gem for those seeking a fun atmosphere fused with warmth and comfort.

Whether you're in the mood for a smoky sipper or a refreshing twist on a classic cocktail, the talented mixologists behind the bar are more than capable of satisfying your every craving.
But let's not forget the heart and soul behind this culinary haven—the visionary owner, Wilbert. His passion for food, hospitality, and creating a welcoming atmosphere is palpable in every aspect of the restaurant. His dedication to sourcing the finest ingredients, supporting local producers, and fostering a sense of community sets this establishment apart.
And if the delicious food and enticing cocktails weren't enough to draw you in, evenings at this establishment are an absolute must-experience affair when the ambiance is elevated to new heights with the addition of live music and mezcal tastings.
You can dive deeper into the world of mezcal with special tasting events held every Friday. My husband and I had the pleasure of attending one of these tastings during our visit. It was such a fun evening—we made new friends as we learned more about Mezcal. We even bought several bottles to bring home.
Casa Del Elfo is more than just a place to grab a bite and a drink—it's an experience. So, gather your friends, family, or that special someone, and prepare to be delighted by an evening of exceptional food, delightful drinks, and unforgettable memories. Read moreWhat a charming and delightful spot we lucked out to find this gem. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as have a fine selection of mezcal, tequila and other mixed drink selections, they also serve mocktails. The atmosphere was welcoming and jovial with a great mix of locals and travelers. We stopped in a little later, but they were still serving food. The grilled cheese we had was out of this world! It was truly in a different league than the typical bar food other places have. The restaurant has a great menu, with a range of selections. You can tell the owner has taken time and effort, really paying attention to details, not only in the aesthetics and vibe, but even in hiring the employees. Everyone was so very friendly, they were all super knowledgeable about our drink choices, and supported my choppy Spanish speaking (defaulting to English when I really butchered it : ) I was told they hold meetups during the day on Saturdays for people to practice speaking, the locals come to freshen up their English and support tourists and expats in learning Spanish! How cool is that, such a community feel, we truly are blown away. Mark this spot on the map,...
Read moreCasa del Elfo is an absolute gem in Oaxaca City! From the moment I walked in, the owner’s hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable experience. Wilbert not only welcomed me with open arms but also took the time to curate a personalized list of must-visit places in Oaxaca—going above and beyond by even sharing contacts for top-tier mezcal tour guides (which turned out to be exceptional).
The restaurant itself is spotless, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the food is incredible. Every dish was a delight, and the mezcal Negroni? Easily the best I had during my entire trip. While I missed the live music on Tuesday and Thursday, it’s just another reason to return on my next visit!
Whether you’re a local, an expat, or just passing through, make Casa del Elfo your first stop. It could be the difference between having a nice vacation and an extraordinary Oaxacan experience.
Can’t wait...
