Cenaduría El Atrio was our very first meal in Oaxaca — we came on a Wednesday night and it was absolutely worth the wait. Even though we arrived close to closing time, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were seated without any rush, and treated with kindness until the very end of our meal.

While waiting, we struck up a conversation with some locals who were also in line — they spoke very highly of the restaurant and shared that it has a long-standing reputation in the community for its quality and consistency. That only made us more excited to eat there.

The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, tucked just off the busier streets, making it feel like a hidden gem. The menu features traditional Oaxacan comfort food, and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. We especially appreciated how the staff took the time to explain dishes we weren’t familiar with, which made our first dining experience in Oaxaca even more memorable.

Definitivamente deben ir a cenar por lo menos una vez en su vida a este pintoresco lugar del barrio de Jalatlaco. Desde la primera vez que fuimos se convirtió en uno de nuestros lugares favoritos por distintas razones: su sazón 👌🏽, su variedad de antojitos y platillos oaxaqueños que ofrecen 😋, el local te hace sentir en un barrio, en una vecindad (diferente a todos los demás lugares para cenar alrededor) y particularmente por su amabilidad, las muchachas que te atienden son una dulzura ❤️ A pesar de que preparan todo al momento no esperamos mucho y el lugar se presta para una buena plática. De todo lo que ofrecen no hay algo que tenga desperdicio, pero queremos recomendarles las tostadas de ... uffff de todo! Las de chapulines, queso de puerco y las de pollo nos enamoraron 🤤 Sinceramente para estar en el centro del barrio más popular de Oaxaca, sus precios nos parecieron accesibles y si tomamos en cuenta el sabor de lo que probamos ufff claro que vale...

This is a true local's spot! Wonderful vibe, staff, and food. Skip some of the fancier restaurants in the hood and come here for a local experience. You won't be disappointed by the quality of the atmosphere, food and people. My best experience so far (but I was with locals so try to make some friends first...
