We looked for some shade to enjoy the beach and eat our lunch with our family for our 1 day in Pto. Escondido. After lugging our beach gear along in the hot sun, we discovered that the only shade by the beach is at private resorts. We wanted to relax and have the kids play in the ocean so we decided to pay. It's about $100 US dollars each. My 12 year old cost the adult price. So $400 in, just to sit in the shade, for just my family. We were a group of 9, so they made a ton of money off of us. Once we got a table and sat, they informed us we could not each the lunch we brought with us. So to not waste that food, we had to leave the premises and eat in the woods across the street, where we found ourselves standing on an ant hill. Fun!.. They do credit each person with a food and drink credits, but we had to eat the food and drinks we brought so the credit was mostly a waste. The raw fish platter was good but the rest of the food was pretty bland. We definitely felt this place was a waste of time and money for us. If you plan to go there and spend all day at the place, eat just their food and drinks, maybe this is for you. Next time, we will just go to another beach that's free and enjoy the food and drinks we enjoy. I wouldn't have taken the time to write this review except for the rude and disrespectful service we encountered with the staff. Even after we paid, they hounded us to leave and eat off the premises. We felt very unwelcome and felt like we were being watched the entire time. Not the best experience when we spent about $1,000 US for...
Read moreVERY HONEST REVIEW! This place is not what you think it is. You pay 600 at the gate per person which of 300 is the entrance fee and for 300 you can consume. Obviously you want to consume during the happy hour, which is from 1pm to 2pm. I went to the bar to order at exactly 1pm and our first drink took 30 minutes to arrive! We ordered the second one right after- the waiting time of 20 minutes. They basically are not able to serve more during this hour to one table. Worst things - the happy hour cocktails are just 5 selected ones (beers and margaritas are excluded) and the Mango daiquiri that is included in the happy hour cocktails has literally NO alcohol in it and has a straw that prevents you from drinking using it too quickly- tricky move?! Anyways it is like drinking mango juice with ice. They put way too little alcohol in all the drinks - not worth the Money at all. As we arrived early in the morning we had great places to watch the Ocean directly and we had a nice chill. But as you spend your whole day there obviously you want to consume stuff there and that is not good at all. We didn't have any food so no comment on that. The servers pay an eagle eye attention if you are trying to consume a little snack that you have in your bag. Not the most relaxed atmosphere and lot of...
Read moreI watched plenty of youtube reviews on this and figured $200.00 pesos cover charge to get in is not a bad deal, and you get to use the pool, and your cover charge goes towards your food. But we were charged $500.00 per person!! I was shocked, $1000.00 for me and my wife! They are in no rush to serve you as well, and I had to seek them out for a menu. Food is just OK, and drinks are just OK. They are clearly taking advantage of the large influx of European tourist, and sorry, you are better off just going to Manzanello or another local beach. This is a clear rip-off. At manzanello you pay $300.00-$400.00 pesos for the use of two lounge chairs, and credit your food bill for the lounge rental. And, you have a beach that is much more swimmable. They do not recommend that you go in the rough ocean water. If you are not used to shore breakers might be best to skip the beach, and stick to the pool. If you end up going to throw your money away, about an hour before they close the kitchen, order up the balance of your cover charge and request "To Go"! and have it all boxed up. You don't consume your $500.00 per person, you don't get any of it back. Maybe a good deal at one time, but not at $500.00 pesos per person. My advice,,,Find Something else to do with your money, or find...
