As French we were really excited to try this restaurant based on all the glowing reviews claiming it was the best food in Mexico.
Unfortunately, our experience couldn’t have been further from that. We ordered the beef tartare, shrimp, and gnocchi, and everything was honestly disappointing. The flavors were confusing, the execution of this French/Mexican fusion felt poorly thought out, and the quality didn’t match the hype.
The beef tartare lacked seasoning, the cauliflower purée had an odd taste and an even stranger texture—not at all like a proper purée—and the gnocchi were just outright bad. The shrimp dish also missed the mark entirely. For dessert, we tried the chocolate fondant, which was served cold, completely ruining what should have been a highlight.
The rillettes were passable, and even the bread tasted off.
On top of the disappointing food, the service was unacceptable. The waiter (or perhaps the owner?) was incredibly rude throughout the evening. At one point, one of our friends didn’t finish her shrimp, and instead of clearing her plate politely, the waiter handed her a spoon and said, “here’s a spoon for you to finish your plate.” This wasn’t the only condescending remark we received—he also made several passive-aggressive comments about us not finishing our food, which only added to an already unpleasant experience.
After reading some of the negative reviews, we should have trusted our instincts and gone elsewhere. The only “French” part of this experience was the rude and unwelcoming attitude we encountered.
I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant. There are much better places to dine around —save your time, money,...
Read moreWe came to Le Cuisine because the reviews were good. I am the first to say: Don't trust reviews in a tourist place. Wish i listened to my own advice. The idea of the dishes we got was fine. The spicing uneven, but ultimately - not offensive. There were no vegetables on the plates. None, Just starch and protein. i worked with a number of french chefs, and any of them would firebomb a restaurant pretending to sell french food and delivering a plate that we had received. But the reason i am writing this review is because i was told that the dish i ordered was beef. It is advertised as rez, which in Spanish means cow. What i was served was veal, ternera in Spanish. It is important to me that i get what i order in a restaurant. I would not order veal, its not a meat i like. In general the food was cooked by someone who thinks good enough is the standard. And that gets 2...
Read moreWe adored this tropical French restaurant just off the main street in Mazunte. Pretty sure it’s dinner only. Of course, the Host, Bartender & Chef was just one kind gentleman. It’s a pre fix menu you can get ala carte or do the Appetizer Main Dish Dessert - Menu Completo! which I recommend. We did one appetizer, two entrees and two desserts. Along with delicious Agua de Día con mezcal!
Being here in the jungle I didn’t know I was craving mashed potatoes- they were so creamy & buttery. They were the bed for my flavorful pork. My husband ordered the steak and seasoned green beans. A healthy portion with lots of flavor. The desserts were a fantastic ending. Only $50 mx pesos - they arrived quickly and two was perfect for sharing.
So set down your tlayudas and tacos and stop by for dinner...
