As the name says "with a touch of home made", they are not lying. It's only a touch. The rest of the flavor is very commercialized. I've had much better Mexican food in the states than this place.
This is my second time going here. First time was bad enough to NOT go back but new items on the menu and the 2 for 1 Pozele deal (marketing) convinced me to give it another shot. First time I had enchiladas (1 out 5 stars) and beef soup (2 out of 5 stars). Although there might be some good items on the menu I'm not willing to spend my time and money here again. As for the Pozole it was the worst Pozole I've had. Even our waitress said it was bad because of the way it was prepared (yes i asked her opinion). Lol
Going out to a restaurant with your family in Mexico is very pleasant and that is why these types of restaurants are very popular. And although the food can be bad (in this case bad Mexican food) they create that type atmosphere and every once in a while even low income families save up and treat themselves to these type of restaurants. The creation of that special feeling is so strong that for a lot of people even the food taste much better. It's very interesting to me too see that. I'm a picky eater so it's very hard to get away with that with me.
Although i do visit these places from time to time (except for this one which will be my last time) i prefer locally owned restaurants.
By the way, I'm down for a double blind test...
Read moreBe careful when dining here. When being seated, the server brought us menus, salsas, and a plate of fruit. We didn't ask for it and found it a bit odd that it came complimentary. We had a couple of bites each, and as the server took our order, she repeated what we ordered. To our surprise, thet said the fruit was part of our order. She insisted it was part of our order, and when the manager came over, he insisted that we pay for it and that nothing is ever free. They blamed it on me as I don't speak Spanish (but my wife does), but it was clearly a lie since they said I asked for it. First off, it came as we were being seated, and secondly, i don't speak Spanish so how could I order it!?
After telling him we weren't going to pay, he removed it from our bill. We still weren't impressed with their tactics though. We ended up staying and ate our meal only to have another issue come up. The drink I ordered came with a glass that had 3 sharp pieces broken off (see image). Once again, be careful if you plan on...
Read moreAfter hearing a lot of great comments of this spot we decided to check it out and we were not impressed. Service was below average. We had to wave the waiter down every-time we needed something. We ordered drinks that took a long time to arrive and all the drinks tasted generic and we could tell they were not made fresh. Food was really a let down as it looked so good in the menu pictures but was really bad in taste with exception of my pozole. The pozole was actually pretty good. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very comfortable. They have a kids area with tvs and inflatable jump house which is great. Their food/drink menu needs much improvement. Overall would not come back as I mentioned their drinks were bad and food with exception of my...
