Restaurante La Ronda Parrilla Uruguaya PDC — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

We enjoyed our 1st visit only having salads which were so good that we came back. We wanted to enjoy a great steak since this was a steak house but we were VERY DISAPPOINTED! My wife ordered her beef tenderloin medium and it came out well done. She sent it back politely and when a new steak arrived it was rare. Dark red in the middle. It was also very fatty. I'm not even sure it was a tenderloin cut. She didn't want to wait for a whole new steak so she asked for it to go back on the grill to cook it to medium. By the time it came back I was finished my meal unfortunately and her steak was still (somehow) raw. When we pointed that out to the servers they explained to us how steak is cooked. As a couple in our fifties I can assure you we have eaten many, many steaks in our lives and are aware both of how steak is cooked and my wife knows exactly how she likes her steak but at this point it was late and she was hungry so she ate around the edges of the steak and the vegetables on the plate. Unfortunately the restaurant did not offer any sort of discount on our (quite large) bill to make up for the fact that we were not able to eat together and my wife ate (a tiny bit of) a steak she did not like. I’m always recommending this restaurant to everyone I meet - especially for date nights! First of all, they do the best steaks and sausages in Playa - period. Second, they have a wonderful wine selection; but if alcohol is not your thing, you have to order their daily infused water creations! If you’re in the mood for a steak go to La Ronds, you won’t be disappointed. Order the Bife de Chorizo, it’s 350 gr of meaty goodness. But besides the steaks the restaurant has an intimate feel and hands down the best service in Playa. The servers are always friendly, professional and attentive; and on top of they they are very knowledgeable about the food and the wine menu. Unlike other restaurants where he staff change as fast as a revolving door, the staff here are the same - as a regular here it's like they become an extended family member that always remembers what you like. Anytime we're hosting guests we bring them to La Ronda. Anytime we are cerebrating a special occasion, we come to La Ronda (or order right to our table in our home). In fact during COVID, our favorite server went as far as pedal biking our fav meal right to our door, in the rain, 3 km away. That's the level of service I'm talking about. Leí muy buenos comentarios, pero lamentablemente a mi no me tocó una buena experiencia y por eso lo quiero compartir. Desde que llegamos al restaurante los meseros los cuales estaban platicando no nos vieron de la mejor manera, supongo porque eran aproximadamente 9.30 pm y me imagino querían irse temprano (Nuestro error fue haber entrado aún viendo esa actitud), se dispersaron y nos recibe uno de ellos, mi esposo pregunta en donde esta más fresco para sentarnos y no supieron responder (No conocen sus propias instalaciones) total nos mandaron al patio para que viéramos si estaba agradable, quiero resaltar que no nos tomaron temperatura, tomamos una mesa en el patio y llega el mesero a tomarnos la orden de las bebidas (Mi percepción fue que nos apresuraba a elegir sin darnos opciones) mi esposo pidió una cerveza ultra y al traerle su cerveza le trae una diferente a la que pidió, le indicamos que no era la cerveza y se le nota molestia en su expresión, preguntamos como era un corte y no supo explicarse, también si me podía vender un elote a la parrilla para acompañar una pechuga (que ordenamos SÓLO con sal) y su respuesta fue que ya traía la ensalada que complementaba el pollo, que sus elotes son hervidos, les ponen mantequilla y los pasan por la parrilla, se lo pedí sólo que sin mantequilla en eso el mesero volteó a ver otra mesa y en un segundo que volteamos a platicar nuestra orden, el mesero se fué a tomar la orden de otra mesa y nos dejó en espera como 10 min., regresa terminamos de ordenar y se va. Quiero resaltar que por sus expresiones y su insistencia que la ensalada ya traía elote no ordené mi elote entero a la parrilla. Luego de un tiempo vuelve con mi pechuga a la parrilla (Super delgada y SIN SABOR) CERO SAL, y las 3 empanadas de mi esposo (CRUDAS POR DENTRO). Pide mi esposo que le den bien cocidas las empanadas y el chef manda a decir que le hará unas nuevas, El tiempo de espera fue demasiado (Yo me terminé mi pechuga INSIPIDA) con un PAN FRÍO y DURO que tuvimos que pedir para poder acompañar mi comida porque el elote de la ensalada era súper pequeño frío y sin sabor. Traen las empanadas, quemadas, resecas por fuera y crudas por dentro nuevamente, mi esposo sólo se comió lo que estaba comible y pedimos la cuenta. FUE UNA CENA ESPANTOSA, LES FALTA MUCHA ATENCIÓN EN EL SERVICIO, A LOS DETALLES EN LOS ALIMENTOS, SABOR Y CALIDAD EN GENERAL. NOS FUIMOS CON HAMBRE Y CON GANAS DE NUNCA...
