First, Tony is one of the most amazing people we have ever met. He is genuine, kind, friendly and a great cook. His amazing personality alone is the reason we will be coming back as much as possible while living in Playa del Carmen. It helps that he serves some great food too. He was so attentive to our daughter, Millie and really made her feel special. The moment we left, she was asking, "when can we come back here?".

The place is small and has room for about 7-10 groups of people but it is charming and a great location near the beach.

The food was perfect. We looked at the menu but Tony recommended filling out one of the forms for his sandwiches and he brought out the fresh loaves of bread to let us see their quality. We are so grateful because this was a great choice. It was still fairly early so we filled out our forms and checked the little boxes to make our custon breakfast sandwiches. The ingredients were fresh and it was made to perfection! We also ordered two juices/smoothies and they were phenomenal too. Not sure how Tony and the one other guy working with him were able to make such quality products for 10 people at one time but this is one of those restaurants I hope succeeds since their food, customer service, value and location exceed all expectations. It's right off of 5ta (quinta) avenida and so much better than 99% of restaurants in the area.

I hope everyone who reads this will stop in and eat here. This place deserves your business more than you know. Order the 'build your own sandwich' and a fresh juice/smoothie...

If I could give Les Amis more than 5 stars, I would. This place is pure magic. The moment you walk into Les Amis, you don’t just feel welcome, you feel held. There’s an energy here that’s hard to describe but impossible to ignore. It feels like the universe is giving you a hug. And that’s all because of Tony, the owner, who’s more than just a chef. He’s a force of light. Truly, it feels like this café is owned by an angel.

The food is on another level. Every baguette is baked fresh right there, crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. I had a black olive baguette loaded with avocado, vegan cheese, and soy chorizo that stopped me in my tracks. The flavors are fresh, vibrant, and deeply satisfying. Their juices and smoothies are enormous, made with real fruit, and taste like sunshine in a glass. Tony even offered me a little sample first just to make sure I liked it. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare.

The space itself is cozy and filled with joy. There are pictures and notes from guests all over the world, and the energy in the room is unlike anywhere else. People come here for the food, but they return because it feels like home. You can feel the love in every detail.

Whether you’re plant-based, vegetarian, or just someone who loves incredible food made with care, this is the place in Playa. It’s more than a café. It’s an experience. You leave feeling full, happy, and connected.

You got to love Tony, the owner, lots of high energy. Love this guy.

Looking for a sandwich shop other than Subway, Subway is so bad for you, fake food.

Anyway, locally owned locally homemade breads this guy makes his own five different kinds of breads.

You take a take a sheet of paper and fill out whatever you want on the sandwich, Multiple choices of cheeses, salamis, meats, hams, lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, you name it.

Got a sandwich, my way, with great service, great dessert and they have great salads as well.

The only thing I’d give this place is it’s too small, I.e 3 stars for atmosphere. There’s only 7 small tables and this place is so popular. With six friends one of us had to walk outside and sit on the sidewalk and wait for food, inside too crowded and to hot. I chose it to be me, once they texted me the food was there, still no place to sit, I left my friends to eat my sandwich on a park bench down the street. The restaurant part of the experienced really sucked.

So don’t plan on going with a crowd. It ain’t gonna happen. Just get your sandwich to go. They’re open from 7 to 6 PM, I believe every day.

I will go here again and again but always plan to get it to go walk down to the beach...
