Shines in places, a little rough in places, but I would absolutely recoomend, and I will return.
The queso fundido is awesome, we had the al pastor variety, and it was superb, gernous, and served with excellent blue corn tortillas.
Salmon special was fair. Came out frozen still (and I expect frozen salmon, nothing wrong with that) and had to send back. The fish was mediocre, freezer burn flavor, but the corn sauce around it was incredible.
The pork belly huarache was spectacular. Perfectly crispy, and then tender. The plantains married perfectly. The huarache itself was a bit to hard, and difficult to cut, but tasted good. The mole was absolutely gorgeous.
Cornbread cake en nogada is such a cute idea. The cake itself was moist and tender, flavorful, awesome. The nogada was a bit thin and bland. Not great. The pomegranate was unfortunately completely flavorless l, which is something I've never had happen before. Not sure if it was getting old or what.
Decent red wine but inexplicably served ice cold (a dry red). Still was fine. The craft corn beer on the dessert menu was lovely.
Decent though sparse service, very slow (we were the only ones there) but we were not in a hurry and enjoyed taking our time and enjoying our wine.
They could improve, but I really liked it, and will return. It's more affordable than many of the other nice places in the...
Read moreThis place has gone down hill. The chef/, owner is no longer hands on. The chalupas were street food quality. Absolutely no effort put into making them above average. The Queso fundido with chicatanes was the worst. They use industrial fake "gouda" cheese that tastes like plastic when melted. Then, to add insult to injury, the chicatanes were burnt in the oven used to melt the cheese. The "rabo de toro" with mole amarillo was edible, nothing more. The mole amarillo was just a mixture of freshly blended tomato and tomatillo with no thought to seasoning and was not slowly cooked for at least half an hour which is a bare minimum. Overall dissapointment. Will not be...
