EL CHARRO — Restaurant in Puerto Morelos

I was craving lobster, it is a fishing village on the coast and this restaurant is near the beach and our villa. They have a board with today's prices for lobster. Sounds great to me so I checked with Cxxxlos the front person and asked specifically is the lobster fresh, yes, I asked again which lobster is the freshest on the list, he showed me two of the about ten options that were today's catch,and exactly the most expensive. The lobster tail that arrived was sad, dry, overcooked and an embarrassing attempt. I am sorry but I have worked in the hospital industry for 4 decades and cannot condone selling frozen, poorly cooked seafood as fresh. There were so many better options in Puerto Morelos. An incredible experience in every aspect. Food is delicious, service was top notch. We had delicious cocktails and very reasonable prices in comparison to restaurants in the area. A 5 night stay and we ate here 3 times. We never do that! Come enjoy this place.

I can only say... you must visit this place for a lunch or dinner. Dave is an incredible server with a large smile. Everyone that came to the table were great.

Guac is outstanding. Tacos and Octopus outstanding. Our bevie was tasty and refrwshung. Some live entertainment.

Seats are a little hard, a product of some places in Mexico but you can rough it just for the experience. Very casual place. Seats outside or in.

We were fortunate to land here with 15 minutes till kitchen closing time. The staff graciously welcomed us and provided exceptional service throughout our meal. We eagerly embraced the recommendations, which were great. It was a memorable dining experience, filled with authentic flavors. For real.... the cheese dip with flank steak was delicious. It's like making your own quesadilla. The waitress recommended a cocktail with passfruit and tequila..... my companions had two a piece. It was delicious. The shrimp taco was also great. The seafood was fresh and the octopus literally crawled out the bowl. Tentacle lickin good! Aaand the price...
