Just wow, this little gem is hidden in between a jewelry place and breakfast bar. The ladies running it are fantastic. This is clearly a small business. Everything is made from scratch right in front of you. The prices are super affordable and the empanadas are to die for. Sooo delicious. I had the spinach and cheese, the cheese and mushroom, cheese and onion, and cheese and ham. They were all fantastic. Perfectly crunchy on the outside and warm and smooth on the inside. #portomorelos #streetfood #smallbusiness #shoplocal #fastfood #empanadas #cheapeats

The sauce and empanadas were good but they needed to be cooked a little longer. Reeeallly good sauce, a hint of kick to it. Customer service was good too. A lot of choices and i believe the one i ordered may be vegan- at least no cheese was in it, possibly butter or milk used in dough or sauté though… i didn’t ask this time and it didnt say it was vegan so i guess it likely isnt lol. Will be back to try the sweet ones!

Best Argentine-style fried empanadas and pastelitos we've had outside of Argentina, which compare very favorably to some of the best we've had in Argentina as well. Everything, including the dough, is made from scratch by a professional French chef, who is married to an Argentinean, so you know the flavors are spot-on and authentic. It will become a mandatory stop in all our future visits to Puerto Morelos.

My family and I have had empanadas in North, South, and Central America. The empanadas at Empanadas Ruta 40 are our favorite. We were in Puerto Morelos for 5 days and ordered here 4 times. We even brought back an order of 30+ empanadas to Louisiana with us to share! Our extended family enjoyed them too. If you like empanadas or think that you might, I suggest visiting this spot. Also, the service is friendly and the street atmosphere...

Hand made on the spot! Delicious. I heard a rumor you can order on whatsapp. That would be the way to go as the wait can be long and the ordering can be confusing. There were 2 tables out front and 1 counter where you can sit and eat. I would recommend getting your order to go. The beach is so close, you can enjoy your empanadas there, but I would recommend going home so you can put the sack of sauce in a bowl for dipping....
