I'm not a fan of spreading negativity, but here is a truly egregious case of the service industry. It was the middle of a hot day and I wanted to pop in for a quick tostada. The cafe was almost empty and I made the choice to sit at a large table with a fan hanging over it. By the way this is not my first time at this establishment, I have always sat at this table, been gracious and left a tip. On this day, the waiter was not very happy with my choice of table, she asked me to move to a smaller table. To which I replied to her that I was really hot and wanted to sit under a fan. Also there were a few free big tables, but I still specified that if there was a need and a big company came I would easily move to a small table. Especially since I didn't expect to spend much time there. Then she told me the fan wasn't working. This seemed strange to me as I had been there a few days before, sitting at this very table and the fan was working. I told her this, to which she continued to insist that it does not work and defiantly went to the switch and turned it a little bit, the fan began to spin a little bit and she immediately turned it off insisting that it does not work. I said that it had been working couple days ago, went to the switch and turned on the fan, which was working just fine. I don't understand why they had to make such a big comedy out of not letting me sit at the big table for 15 minutes. I went to wash my hands and then said that they don't really care about the comfort of their customers. To which this waiter started pointing me with his hands to the exit. Outraged by this behavior, I started making a video of what was happening with my explanation of the situation. I am attaching to this review a photo of this waiter who was smiling big time and seemed very happy with this behavior. As a resident of Puerto Morelos, I will never again visit this place where customers are treated with such disrespect. I also do not recommend you to visit this establishment, as such attitude to customers is a disgrace and absolutely unacceptable in the field of service. As a customer I have the right to choose any table and sit where I want. Thank you for a spoiled lunch. Thanks to you that day I discovered another place with great food, cozy atmosphere and...
Read moreEnjoyed a wonderful Fish and Chips dinner at Pecao Fonda de Mar. The atmosphere is fun and lively, being right on the vibrant Joaquin Zetina Gasca avenue, with lots of tables and open air seating design. The staff are plentiful, very welcoming, and able to provide good service in at least 3 languages (Spanish, French and English) that we're aware of. Our drinks were served quickly and were delicious (the Mezcal Negroni did not disappoint), and we were able to sit and enjoy, not feeling rushed at all to order our food. When we did order, the food was served in a very reasonable amount of time, especially given how busy the restaurant was when we ordered, and it came out piping hot and so flavourful! The fish was battered Triggerfish, deep fried to perfection with a crispy exterior, fully cooked interior, and flaky but firm sweet tasting fish. The fries were fresh cut wedges with the peel, seasoned wonderfully, and crisp! We were seated by one of the owners (Emilio) who took our drink orders and was very personable, patient and helpful when we expressed wanting to practice our Spanish. Our meals were served by Gustavo and Liz, who seemed to tag-team at various tables, making sure that patrons weren't waiting too long for any service. Both were very charming and took time to chitchat while still making sure tables were being served. We ordered the Brownie with Ice Cream for dessert, and it was decadent! When we received the bill, both my husband and I agreed that this was a great value, and left a good tip to show our appreciation. We'll be going back again to try other menu items, and we highly recommend it to any fish, seafood...
Read morePretty much the best seafood restaurant we've been to in the Yucatán & Quintana Roo! The food is legit. It's perfectly seasoned, presented well with extreme attention to detail with beautifully mandolined veggies. The service is a real standout, with everyone helping and so incredibly welcoming (Dani, Amman, Jugo). We knew this was the place to go as there were so many locals filling up the place at inly around 3pm. We will definitely be back while on our vacation. It's some of the best food we've had. The aguachile rojo was so delicious, while the fish Pibil (Tikin Xic) and Marlin gobernador tacos were inventive and off the chart good.
Update: Since they were closed yesterday, we had to try "other" places and came back today because they are officially the best seafood we've had...anywhere! Tried new things today. The Tikin Xic burrito was incredible, as was the tuna taco, fish taco, and of course the favorite Tikin Xic taco. The coconut flan was a great ending as it is light and refreshing. Service was excellent throughout. The place feels like you're eating with family and friends. It's cozy and fun. No fuss. Yet the food and it's various colors and layers of flavor make for a wonderful experience and...
