I had the American breakfast.
Firstly, the chef (Yes, it was Octavio) was very nice as we chatted in English so that was great.
We only inquired about juice options and he went and purchased some across the street and brought a jar of it to the table though we did not actually order it, it was only an inquiry as to what juices are offered.
At that point in time, the little waitress had told us only coffee was available and there didn't seem to be a physical drink menu on hand.
So I accepted the orange juice despite that we did not order it and it had no pulp which I do NOT prefer.
Then we discussed if preparing the eggs poached was an option and he certainly confirmed that he could do that. Great
My friend asked about the sausage. He indicated that he made the American sausage himself and my friend was duly impressed as was I.
So when the food arrived, the biscuits were almost hard as a rock and the gravy was more of a liquid broth versus a gravy.
I had to say something though so I only addressed the gravy but said nothing about the biscuits and he was again accommodating to add the necessary flour to make it thicker and it was a bit better but it could have been thicker still.
Lastly, and I'm sure you're tired of this rant by now, the sausage flavor was delightful though a little less black pepper would have made it perfect and it was on the dry side (overcooked) and therefore a bit chewy...
Read moreLuckily our guides were kind to us and a gentleman behind us ordered a tasty fresh juice. Because the waitress denied they had fresh juice. So when I saw it arriving, I asked him what it was and asked him if he could help me order the same from the waitress. We told her we were vegetarians and she still put bacon next to our pancakes. They were better than our hotel but they had nothing to add apart from very calorific creamy and brown sauce. Dave guessed it was from condensed milk and maple syrup. I asked for butter it wasn’t pure it had soya, which I know is not good but I needed something. The fresh fruit salad was really small portion. I should have kept it for the pancakes. Dave had all the sauces so that filled him up. We were disappointed with how unhelpful the waitress was. Thank you for replying, the pancakes/hot cakes were good quality just a shame she didn’t seem to understand that we did not eat meat and didn’t tell your chef not to cook the bacon. I got a discount because I told her I wasn’t going to pay for the champignon because we didn’t want the bacon. Thankfully...
Read moreLast Tuesday evening. Four guests ordered steak. Two were ordered medium and came back very rare. Sent back to be put on the grill for a few more minutes. No one came to ask if meals were ok. Took 25 minutes to get the 2 meals back. Other 2 were finished by then. Earlier spoke to John but by then he was off to play darts. Sent an email to the restaurant & tried to call John with the # he gave us but no answer. This was an unfortunate experience for our guests. The service does not live up to the cost.We started with a male waiter who spoke some English but the chef who spoke perfect English took our order. Then we had a female waiter who took our meals back. Still we maintain that the chef should have checked in with our table. Hope this is enough information. Please note that we called John & the restaurant as we did not want to post a...
