An excellent experience in every way. Service 5 Stars Marcos, Antonia, Cesar Teller and Bethzayda were exceptional hosts. Every single one of them was kind, attentive and genuinely wanted to ensure I was having the best experience possible. On my way out, Cesar, the manager, asked for and eagerly received honest feedback, both compliments and criticism. I felt cared for and heard.
Food Overall 4.5 Stars
Appetizers Shrimp Salad 3.5 Stars This dish was good, but with a few tweaks it could be great. The shrimp is breaded and fried. It's cooked well and served on a delicious but tiny bed of shredded zucchini and carrot salad. I wanted more of that salad. It is accompanied by lettuce leaves wrapped in sashimi sliced cucumber. There are a couple drops of beet sauce on the plate and a drop of french dressing and a drop of balsamic dressing with a tiny tomato cube on the cucumber lettuce roll. The roll added nothing to the dish but some healthy vegetables, which were appreciated, but not special.
Burgundy Escargot 4 Stars This was great with perfectly cooked snail and a lovely, chunky sauce of tomato and onion. The addition of a garlic crouton or toast disc with each snail would have made this a five start dish.
Soup Lobster Cappuccino 5 Stars Perfect. Delicious. No notes! A table side pour of a RICH lobster bisque over a bed of perfectly cooked lobster chunks, topped with a flavored cream made for a wonderful soup experience I wanted much much more of. I scraped the bowl clean, and considered ordering another one. I'll come back for this soup,
Main Crunchy Sea Bass 4.5 Stars The only deduction on this plate was the cook on the sea bass. It needed to spend 30 seconds to 1 minute less in the pan. Admittedly I like my fish closer to medium and the edges felt more medium well. In case you haven't noticed I'm a highly critical eater and I LOVED this dish. There was nothing crunch about the fish. It's served covered in a sauce and sautéed garlic and onion. By the time it's served (piping hot) what might have been crunch in the first moments after plating is not crunch when it arrives. This did not take away from the enjoyment of the dish at all. Accompaniment is a mashed potato that is green from an unknown ingredient. Spinach? Herb? Peas? I honestly could not identify the green, I didn't try that hard. The very first potato bite was so satisfying I spent more time enjoying it than analyzing it. A handful of sous vided(?) veggies were served with the potatoes and added a nice textural diversity to the soft plate. I scraped this plate clean.
Dessert Creme Brûlée 5 Stars Perfection. No notes! The perfect size after a meal this rich. Perfectly crispy crust. The right cook on the custard with no curdling, and wonderfully creamy on the tongue. This was the perfect level of sweetness. Enough to know it's dessert, but not make my teeth or head hurt. The perfect balance that allows each ingredient to do it's work and achieve harmony.
Decor 5 Stars This space is really beautiful and well maintained. The location is lovely building looking right over the ocean with ceilings and decor reminiscent of Rome with high domed ceilings, headless white winged sculptures, white pillars and generally restrained, but luxurious hand.
I absolutely loved this meal. Thank you to everyone who contributed to my incredible enjoyment this evening. It really made my day and quite...
Read moreHad the foie gras (really good) French onion soup (amazing!) surf and turf - great shrimp with one of the best filets I’ve ever had. Unbelievably tender and beefy, just wish it had a bit more of a seared crust. Crème brulee was great!
Service was meh. Very little interaction other than taking orders and getting plates. At one point had to go to the bar to ask for someone to refill drinks (all ordered and waters were empty, whole table). Seemed the least rude thing to go to the bar and ask, instead of waiving someone down. They quickly sent someone over. 3 people ordered the same steak, one medium rare, two medium, one of those sauce on the side and one of those no sauce. All came out sauced, and medium rare was given to the wrong person. Minor gripe, but ‘great service’ to me avoids both of those issues.
One person in our party ordered the beef Wellington and it was terribly dry. A teen of ours had the chicken noodle soup and said it was the best they ever had. I’d say the same for my French onion!
Atmosphere was great but gave it 4/5 because the table we sat at was very weak, to the point it took away from the experience. A slight lean or bump against it spilled a...
Read moreI review a lot. I enjoy it. I’ve been to 25 countries. I’ve experienced and eaten various cuisines.
I was absolutely blown away by the superb quality of every part of my meal, especially for being in an all-inclusive resort! From the ravioli pistachio appetizer, to the best French onion soup I’ve ever had, to the succulent duck, lamb, filet, and lobster, all was over the top. The best duck I’ve ever had. Tasty lamb chops cooked to a perfect medium. The steak was tender and delicious too.
This is by far the best restaurant in the resort and is worth going to multiple times. We felt very well attended to by Miguel and Maday, as well as Marcos and Feliciano when we came back the second time. The manager Cesar also came to greet us as we came in and made sure to wish us a good evening on our way out. All in all a great couple of nights. I really am happy I came back here and tried the other dishes. Without a...
