What an amazing time at Mare Nostrum. From quality, technique to the pairing, this place exceeds any other seafood restaurant I had been too. This place will hold a strong standing for seafood in the future. We were serviced by Mario Uicab and Yohani Sanchez and they have us an amazing walkthrough of the dishes as well as their opinions not to make a sale, but for what they actually prefer. They were extremely attentive and made the experience joyful.
For appetizers I strongly recommend the ceviche for is freshness of the sea and the Galician style octopus for its spice freshness as well as new taste in style for any other octopus I've had. Mario had said the octopus was his favorite and damn right he was.
We followed with the grouper and the grilled lobster. The grouper fillet was amazing it brought the specific taste to a whole new level, forward with the flavor but somehow rides the line between light and robust. It was delicious and the technical skill used to cook it was perfect. The fish was moist and the skin carried the seasoning well.
The lobster is tender with a creamy melt in your mouth feel. The plating is show stopping and the sides made both dishes balanced. There are no words to describe how good the lobster was, it is something one must enjoy.
The deserts!!! Amazing!!!!!
The Baklava amazing paring with the raspberry handmade ice cream. They used more fine ingredients and build to bring the flavor to be crinkly and creamy. Delicious.
The apple pie was not a big slice of traditional pie, but a delicate made hand pie with a flakey crust, whole slices of apples and more cinnamon than a traditional American whole pie. Delicious pairing with the soft vanilla ice cream.
The Bavarian cream with fresh strawberry. The perfect last bite to a truly amazing meal. Was an amazing light custard crÚme brûlée consistency paired with delicious suprise of strawberries jam at the bottom and a small bite of strawberry on top....
Read moreI am absolutely disgusted with this restaurant, the only one that has disappointed me on this amazing holiday. I was offered a wine menu, which I knew would be an extra charge, however I was led to believe my bottle would be $20 cheaper than it was from Claudia Mukul, I trusted her to convert it into dollars for me, which she did but when I paid it was $20 more, this made me so annoyed as we have paid a fortune for this holiday, and it's all inclusive, I would never have paid $60 for a bottle of Grenache!!! Have to say this spoiled my whole evening, as Claudia denied she had said $40 an I was left with the bottle of wine that wasn't that great anyway. Her manager Rafeal Castro was no better either, he said there is no wine on the menu at that price, so basically she lied then!! If you go here beware it is the only restaurant in this resort that is pushing wine on everyone! Most folk were charging to their room, therefore won't know until they check out they have been ripped off!!...
