DO NOT GO HERE!!! We were misled to believe when asking for a taxi at the port that Krazy Lobster was “probably” at capacity & then convinced into paying $15/pp (an “all inclusive alcohol package” for $40/pp was also offered) to go to this beach club. We were shown pictures of what looked to be a nice beach club.. upon arrival- it was the very opposite. The beach at the beach club is very hard to access with a broken pier and rocks. We could see the Krazy Lobster and should’ve gone with my gut when they tried to tell me I needed a reservation (even though I knew I didn’t bc it was “later” in the morning) and just went there. Initially I thought the staff was very nice and accommodating. Then I was forced to hold a lizard and then chased down for a tip after the man caught an attitude. Gave him $5. We also tipped the massage girls $10 each. We were demanded a tip (to check out) of either 18% that took our bill from 170 to 220?? Or 20% which somehow they got up to $250. We didn’t want to cause a ruckus so agreed to $220. Was assured that the pesos and what we agreed to was charged. Got home and they charged us $266. Food was the only decent thing.. Massages were decent but not worth it. Just skip the whole place because at the end of the day- they absolutely ripped us off. Throughout my entire time there I gave the place so much more credit than it was worth trying to convince my husband that we were helping these people live and that it was worth it.. that all changed when we were over charged. I hope the people running this place see this because we really were planning to come back and help out the community with our kids. Now that...
Read moreSTAY AWAY! They trick you by convincing you to prepay $40 per person at the port for an “all inclusive” beach bar. Once you pay and they put on your bracelet, they tell you food isn’t included with the price. When you get to Kimbara, the furniture is crusty, the beach views are minimal, and there is seaweed and rocks instead of nice sand. It looks nothing like the photos they show you. The “open bar” consists of a limited menu of 5 drinks all of which are watered down which you find out after waiting 10 minutes for the waiter to bring them back. Pay attention to what you order and keep track of it in your phone and take pictures of the menu with the prices in it so they don’t overcharge. Costa Maya is a shady port and unfortunately all the locals seem to be interested in is scamming tourists. DO NOT...
Read moreDo not get scammed at the port. Just take a taxi down to this area for $4/person, or stay on the ship to avoid Costa Maya entirely. It is really that bad. The beach is not clean, no matter what picture the scammer shows you at the port.
We were told we had an all inclusive experience. They closed earlier than any other business at 3:30pm. We had no warning of course.
I was constantly harassed to buy something. I was also asked to leave a tip for the bartender when I had a $5 bill in my hand for a tip already. I ended up tipping more than the drinks I received cost. The only drink with alcohol is the beer. You don’t have a second to relax here. You are constantly asked again and again to buy something.
I honestly have no idea why the ships...
