La Comedie — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

If it wasn’t for Juan being our server this place would have received one star. Luckily we arrived 20 minutes early as we were turned away because my husband was not wearing long trousers so we had to walk back to our room to change. This isn’t a great first impression on the restaurant’s part and with these ridiculous rules we were expecting good quality food. We have visited many michelin starred restaurants in london and over the world and never been turned away due to our dress code. Luckily we packed trousers for a 30 degree beach holiday ay! If you do find yourself unable to book the brasserie (french restaurant at the other hotel) and your last resort is this one then we would recommend the asparagus soup, duck salad and crepes for dessert. Avoid the lobster…it was inedible. The creme brulee was green/blueish on the bottom - this is a chemical reaction that happens when water baths are too hot (therefore overcooked). Juan really turned the night around for us. He has been the most attentive, professional and friendly server we have encountered this week and we are so happy to have been in his company. If it wasn’t for him we would have left after the mains due to have bad the lobster was. We recommend the Caribe for good seafood...

Wow! We had THEE best dinner experience. I am celiac and worried about travelling and eating gluten free. Our server, Antonio Velazquez, made my night so easy and relaxing (not to mention absolutely delicious suggestions) that I was completely blown away. We are from Canada and I run a restaurant as a living. His service was top notch, genuine and memorable. Yaneth Garcia topped the night by making sure every need of ours was taken care of, she was so sweet and caring. If you are staying at Barcelo Maya Rivera, I 10/10 recommend this restaurant. Ask for Antonio & Yaneth as your severs, especially if you have any allergies or concerns. They will walk you through the menu and every ingredient to make sure you are taken care of and happy. We have been to the Barcelo Riviera Maya Adults Only resort twice now, and have enjoyed everything about our visits. All of the four dinner restaurants are excellent. They have a similar feel, but are different enough that they offer unique experiences. We have had a fantastic experience during all three meals at La Comedie; twice during our recent visit in April of 2024 and once during our visit in 2023. We have tried different offerings each time and have not been disappointed. On all three occasions, Jose Hernandez was our excellent server, and during this trip was assisted by Bertha Sabino and Antonio Hernandez.
