Lets start by saying I do not generally write reviews, but after reading previous ones, and playing it I felt obligated... I read a lot of reviews before deciding to go here, a large % were to the negative side. I only opted for this course due to cost of PGA Rivera being double the $ and the course is supposedly pretty tough and I am a weekend warrior who loves the game.. I am a amateur hack, as I stated, but I will say this is in the top 5 best courses I have ever played, and I have played at some decent courses in my opinion. There are a few holes that could use some bunker work for sure, but its not an issue if you just dont use them! :)....The clubs to rent were all Titleist and "very" nice, again in my opinion, carts we nice/fair and were no issue. If you are looking to golf while in the Rivera Maya/Tulum area, I would not hesitate to book here, if you want to play a $250 round then for sure the PGA Rivera course will be great, but if you want to spend $100.00 and have a great...
Read moreWe really enjoyed ourselves. It wasn't expensive until you need golf balls. 60 for four sleeves of quality balls that are completely unessasary when you are playing with rental clubs that don't have lob wedge. Also found it amusing that they complained about our lack of collars and dress code when the facility was a "C" at best with No airconditionind bathrooms where only one stall had a toilet seat with no toilet paper and the other did. Also no Porta potties on the course. Or trash containers or bunker rakes. There was a drink cart that met us on the ninth and eighteenth witch seemed like bad timing. Also the locals seem to use the corse for transit, lot's of pedestrians and motor bikes. We also had to avoid operating sprinklers and ground workers. But hey I was golfing in February so I was going to be happy no matter. Just a heads up. Chucked the leftover balls in the final pond i assumed they wouldn't compensate...
Read moreThis track has a nice layout and offer great greens. The price unfortunately does not represent good value. The sand traps are well located but are full of limestone rocks and if you respect your clubs you will not play out of them. The greens end up with limestone gravel all over them when you do play out of them. This course could be very busy with pricing that reflects the municipal type of course it is. With more traffic they then would and be able to improve its shortcomings and improve services and it would be well on its way to serve the majority of golfers who are looking for a fun game that is reasonably priced. It would also allow new golfers a chance to learn the game and become future participants...
