This place exceeded my expectations.
I found this place on google as my boyfriend and I were traveling to San Miguel. We received many other recommendations from friends but something in my gut told me to still try this place.
We went during lunch and there were maybe five parties there. We ordered the fattoush salad, lamb, and the gyro and OH MY GOODNESS everything tasted absolutely phenomenal. From the freshly made pita to the lamb, everything melted in your mouth. EVEN THE SALT that was served on the side of the lamb just melted effortlessly on your tongue.
I lived in NYC and LA, two very big food cities, but this is by far one of my favorite restaurants. Biggest compliment to the chef!!
It looks like this restaurant is about a year old so I hope it continues to succeed throughout the years; or maybe just San Miguel’s best kept secret :) I hope the owners open in the US otherwise I am coming back to SMA. I am so surprised this didn’t pop up when I was researching restaurants to try except by using google maps. Also thank you to the other reviewers that made me trust my...
Read moreWe had a really lovely evening here. A big thank you for this goes to our waiter Omar. He was so friendly and helpful; he helped us choosing dishes, patiently answered question we had and made sure to ask about food allergies as well. He didn’t leave us wishing for anything, as he went above and beyond, absolute great service! For drinks, we had the lychee sour cocktail and a cucumber cocktail. For food we had the Greek salad, grape-leaf dolmades with a mint yogurt sauce, ravioli filled with duck in a truffle sauce and the lamb gyros. We also got pita bread an a yogurt/ beetroot/ nut cream dish on the house. The food was absolutely amazing! The flavour combinations were really delicious. We also had the pistachio baklava and chocolate mouse, which were very yummy as well. No pictures of those, as we took them to go. The atmosphere of the place is great, too. Nice decorations, dimmed lights, we really loved it. It truly was a great evening through...
Read moreBocaciega is one of my favorite restaurants in San Miguel de Allende. And I always enjoy it. But I was surprised at my most recent visit. I was presented with a vegan menu with many options on it.
As a person who does not eat animal products, I know I need to carefully read every description carefully to try to ensure I won't find dairy or eggs or even meat hidden in a dish. But this menu was a game changer. I could choose any item from it with the confidence that the restaurant had done the work for me.
My waiter, Erik, is always a delight and didn't fail to bring a smile to my face again. He's a charmer.
The other surprise was a saxophone player who came in and played some good jazz standards from 8:00 to 8:30. Like so many musicians here, he was quite good and entertaining.
I am happy to recommend Bocaciega to tourists and...
