El Buen Café — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

El Buen Café in San Miguel de Allende is a truly magical place that will leave you wanting to come back for more! From the moment I stepped inside, the cozy ambiance and warm hospitality made me feel right at home. I got the opportunity to meet and interview the owner Kris a seasoned chef with over 30 years of experience. It felt like a secret locals only gem that would normally take years to find with over 800 places to choose from.

The ingredients are locally sourced, with some even coming straight from their backyard garden! My juice was fresh squeezed right in front of me with fruit right from the backyard. The freshness and quality of the food is incredible, and you can taste the passion and love in every bite.

I highly recommend trying a few things including their homemade banana bread if it's available – it's absolutely divine! I loved my experience at El Buen Café so much that I went back the following day.

If you ever visit or live in San Miguel de Allende, El Buen Café is a must. It’s very simple and very good. You can literally taste the difference.

This place is absolutely outstanding! I can’t put it any other way. I mean, just wow. The decor, the charm, the sensibility….the place is all just so well-designed. And the enfrijoladas I ordered were easily the best I’ve ever had anywhere. In fact, you know how a lot of times you end up having to choose between “high quality and fresh” as opposed to “rich and flavorful?” Well this dish was somehow both of those things at the same time, while also being magically complex. This delightful family run cafe is in Colonia San Antonio next to Centro. Located on a residential street, the cafe is on the bottom floor of the owners' home with a warm and welcoming feel. The food was fabulous and freshly prepared in the open kitchen. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered (limonada, agua fresca, grilled veggie fajitas, breakfast chile relleno with egg, bacon and cheese, and a thick slab of banana bread which we split).
