Instituto Allende Escuela de Arte y Español — Attraction in San Miguel de Allende

I just finished a four-week watercolor class at Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, and it was an amazing experience! Not only did I learn so much about painting (I didn't even know how to hold a brush at first!), but I also got to spend time in such a beautiful setting. The school is located in a stunning colonial-style building, with charming interior patios and lush gardens that make the perfect backdrop for creativity.

Our teacher, Alejandro, was incredibly patient and hands-on. He really helped me grasp watercolor techniques, and I appreciated that he speaks English! Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, the environment is welcoming and friendly. If you're looking to get into painting, I highly recommend taking classes here.

First of all, to get to the right place to the mural and free art exhibitions, please don’t follow the address on Google map which is for the art school. Please enter from the entrance with the sign of Mi Casa restaurant next door to the school. The lady at school registration was not very helpful but the old gentleman at the restaurant entrance was very nice. He waved at me and gestured that I could go inside to take pictures. Here I am. I don’t know where everyone else is going, but when we stopped and asked about seeing the murals, the woman at reception told us that it’s a school and not open to the public. Maybe we were at the wrong entrance, but if so, she could easily have pointed us the right way. Fortunately, it was close to where we are staying so we hadn’t gone out of our way...
