Mare Nostrum Restaurant — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

It seems like every timeI think I've found the best spot in SMA the next night there's another even better! Tonight Mare Nostrum Located at Umaran 56 in Zona Centro. This is a tiny place with greenery as thick as a jungle. Romantic settings and delicious dining for couples or small groups. Very limited seating so call for reservations if you have a party larger than four. I can personally recommend any of the pastas, they are fantastic. Try the garlic bread too. It's just like we fix at home garlic sautéed in butter then toasted, excellante! We had the four cheese linguine, bolognese with Longo pasta and shrimp pasta. All were well prepared and tasted great. The desserts were awesome also. We had the chocolate mousse and it was so light and fluffy. So delicious!

The food is good+ to very good and well-presented. The garden area is very pretty but I've only been seated in the bar area. It's really the service that's been off. Once we ordered a bottle of wine and they brought the bottle, opened it and didn't tell us they substituted another wine entirely because they didn't have the one we ordered. The 2nd time I went they told me to pick a table in the bar area. I sat down and a few minutes later they asked me to move to a different table because they were expecting a party of 6. This place was so delicious! The food was so good we started out with some garlic bread and then moved onto our courses all three of us there got something different and we all loved it! Actually I loved mine so much that I got a second portion to take home. We all had pasta dishes but one of the neiboring tables had some pizza that looked delicious as well. The atmosphere was cosy and intimate and the service was very friendly. The server spoke English very well and put up with our haphazard attempts at spanish with grace only gently correcting us.
