This has got to be one of the top ten restaurants by far in San Miguel de Allende. It’s a rooftop restaurant with elegant accoutrements, excellent wait service and an incredible view of the city center. We spent a luxurious even with beloved friends which turned out to be one of our most memorable evenings in this illustrious, bright and vivacious city. The surroundings, the view, the staff and its overall operation was excellent… magnifique! Upon arrival, you know not what to expect as the entrance is more like a cubby hole in the wall with a long, long staircase which takes you into another world of luscious and incredible aromas and comfortable night air wafting around a sophisticated casual ambience. The evening got off to a wonderful start with our drinks which consisted of ‘Lord Don’t Stop’ (yeah, that’s what it’s called!): with Tanqueray Gin, jugo de lichi, a bitter, Prosecco and an incredible Aberrante Mezcal; the Lime Exposition consisting of a really smooth and tasty Mezcal Espadín, with a jugo de toronja (grapefruit) y pepino (cucumber) and a sour; and an Italian Vino Espumoso Prosecco Pinelli. Wow! Great start! The servers were exceptional with their knowledge of what goes with what and minute descriptions of the preparation of both the aperitifs and entrees as well as the wines and cordials. Our appetizers were incredible. As is typical as starters, the homemade Chips being warm, crispy and super tasty – one of the best I’ve had in the city. We also had the Ceviche de Pescado (super fresh and delicate fish) with their mouthwatering leche de tigre and chile serrano and an order of Papas Enchiladas – all could have easily made our meal for the evening, but no, we went for more. As we soon found out with our entrees, Terraza 48 is a Foody’s paradise. We being pretty much the gastronomes we are, we most definitely were trying each other’s dishes. These marvels set before us consisted of: a marvelous Croquetas de Jamón with cremoso de bechamel, jamón serrano, an exquisite and delicate alioli de romero y perejil; the Risoto de Mariscos (seafood) con pulpo, camarón, chipirón y almejas (octopus, shrimp, squid and clams) was extraordinarily fresh, flavorful and perfectly seasoned. We delected in the Tartar de Atun (tuna) en Chile de Agua Tatemado, nogada virreinal de chile ancho – a must try any tuna lover. The utter enjoyment this evening was incredible, but the ultimate dish was the Tartar de Atun (Tuna) en Chile de Agua Tatemado, nogada virreinal de chile ancho, superbly done. One outcome for the four of us this evening is that of all the incredible dining experiences within San Miguel de Allende, Terraza 48 was a standout, an absolute must, and a top ten citywide! The view, the service, the location, the atmosphere and the food, make this a one of a kind...

Read moreI will remember this place as the time the lights went out in SMA! Yes, midway through our meal the entire town lost power. But this only added to a great dining experience at Terraza 48.
First, the staff is super friendly and made light of an interesting situation with the power outage. My partner and I were the only ones on the rooftop at the time dining and they just kept things in good spirits and helped make for a memorable time. Thank you all!
Food wise… I would come back here again. Craving a hamburguesa and THIS one really hit the spot. Loved the grilled onion and cheese, add some mole and you’re good. Truffle fries were on point as well (small on the portion but good flavor). If you come here, recommend trying the Tender Corn Tamale, some may consider it a “high brow” tamale, but either way it was fantastic!
Recommend coming here for a nice casual rooftop dinner experience, power...
