I'm only in San Miguel de Allende for one week. With 2 days left in my trip, I've eaten at Victoria's three times this week because the food is THAT good.
First time I ordered the Pozole Verde. I had never eaten Pozole previously so didn't know what to expect. The flavour profile was indescribable. So damn delicious. I was offered flan or lemon pie for dessert. I chose the latter. OMG! So lemony. Don't go thinking lemon meringue pie. This is not that. It is so much better. Pucker you up lemon flavour with zest of lime on top. I savoured every mouthful.
On my second visit to Victoria's I ordered the Poloze again because it was THAT good the first time.
Third visit this week I tried the chicken fajitas. It was served with Mexican style rice and a large serving of guacamole.
My waiter Thomas waited on me every visit. I used a translation app to tell him that their food was the best food I had eaten during my three weeks in Mexico. He must have conveyed my message to Maria in the kitchen because she came out and chatted me up and thanked me for enjoying thier food. I learned that Maria cooks the food and Thomas makes the desserts.
I've had quite a few mediocre meals during my three weeks in Mexico. I've had a couple memorable meals too. In San Miguel, Victoria's Comida Mexicana is, hands down, the best food...

On this particular visit, it was the coldest day of the year (so far). We wanted something to warm us up. We both ordered a bowl (large for me, small for Stacy) of their famous pozole verde. It did not disappoint, a rich broth loaded with hominy, pork, and onions. It was loaded up on top with thinly sliced radishes and lettuce. It was served with crema and salsa verde on the side. This soup was the perfect meal for a chilly day in San Miguel de Allende.
I should also mention that this time I ordered their hot chocolate (not something I usually order in restaurants). It was rich and delicious.
For a delicious, inexpensive meal with amazing service I highly...
Read moreThis simple hole in the wall restaurant prepared the best meal I've had in SMdA in our two weeks here so far. The red posole was chock full of tender bits of beef and chicken, hominy, and veggies in a mouthwatering broth. I squeezed in a little lime and salt to bump it to my favorite level of savory deliciousness. My husband had the beef fajitas, also very tender and nicely seasoned. We added a guacamole side and wonder how we finished it all. And then we got a slice of lemon pie. Why? Because another reviewer said it was so good. 😋. The entire meal was only 480 pesos, including 2 fruit drinks. And the service...
