Hecho en México — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

I have to admit due to the name I was expecting more. I was sadly disappointed.When we arrived, we were seated promptly and waited on quickly. We were waiting for a friend to arrive and when she did, we were completely ignored. We had to ask someone to get her a drink and someone to take our orders.

The food was not all that great. I had cochinita Pibil and it was just meh. My husband had enchiladas and he said they lacked flavor.

I’m not one to justo to conclusions, however the entire clientele was white and when our Mexican friend showed up, they acted like we were invisible.

Sad thing, my friend is a renowned pastry chef and she was disturbed my the lack of service we received.

As we were exiting the building, we noticed Hencho has a side room filled only with Mexican peoples. Segregation is something I would expect to see in the southern states of the USA. Me will not be back and can not recommend this restaurant.

There are much better restaurants in SMA, sadly this is not...

Best service I've had in SMA! The wait staff here is very friendly and attentive, although as a vegetarian I found the food to be disappointing. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas and talked with the waiter about it (I ordered a side of avocado slices for my baby) but what he brought me was a three very greasy/oily tortillas with just avocado slices inside and a side of mashed potatoes. I questioned him on this and he took them away and returned with fajitas, or "fajitas" because again it was just three greasy tortillas with some sparse chopped veggies, no cheese as the menu stated. I got a side of avocado slices and garlic mashed potatoes, which were delicious. I'm guessing the waiter confused vegetarian with vegan, which I've had happen to me many times in Mexico. For $150 (pesos), I thought the meal was a bit disappointing, but again, the friendly service and mashed potatoes made...
