Striking interior design in a wonderful open space. The food and service were very inconsistent. Starters and soups unique and very good, though not a place to go for larger groups. Despite having made reservations a week in advance for an early dinner to avoid uncomfortable seating arrangements and service delays, we were placed along a glass doorway portico with frigid air pouring in on a freezing night. The large interior space had only 3 other tables being served, yet we were told we couldn't be seated inside the huge interior which looked quite lovely as it was reserved for a large group coming a full hour later - they never showed up. The classy response to our cold discomfort was to bring us huge spongey blankets with which to cover ourselves! Keeping the nice napkin on my lap was a farce. Ordering was difficult due to the new ubiquitous QR code style menus as there was no cell service and as we were not hotel guests, we weren't offered the use of wifi. Finally, after several requests, we were brought one printed menu that had to be passed around to ten people. I was told there were no specialty cocktails - only traditional drinks so we ordered wine which was good. It took an hour+ to order. The coconut soups were excellent as was the presentation and delivery in pre warmed bowls. The starters of octopus salad, tuna tataki were lovely, good quality seafood and sauces. The seared tuna main dish got rave reviews but both orders of red snapper were very dry with a too salty sauce. The traditional fish dish didn't impress but the biggest disappointment was the filet mignon at $60 US, though very good quality meat, it was ordered medium rare but came blood rare and cold. The sauce was indistinct and bland with one mushroom slice sitting under a bunch of raw spinach leaves?? The tiny square of cactus casserole was ice cold and it sat on a large paddle of non edible cactus. There were at no time more than 12 other diners in the place. At the end, we declined to brave the desserts and were all too cold to stay any longer. The poor waiters who did their best brought the manager finally to our table, he had been standing 20 feet away all night but never came by earlier even though he was looking at the unfolding scene and could have stepped in at any time. Our feedback was met with his blank expression and nothing else, just like this review likely will be. The bill was many hundreds of dollars. We laughed and made do with the whole comedy of errors, being in a foreign country and as we were celebrating a marriage, we just wanted to have a good night. But the final and biggest laugh of the evening was when our requested 3 cabs turned into only two and part of our party waved a frozen goodbye to us as we drove away in the warmed cars. It really was a farce from start to finish....

Read moreWhile the restaurant is gorgeous, it seems they have put all their effort into the atmosphere rather than the food. I really wanted to love this place, but felt it fell short of its promise. We were intrigued by their claim to be a Thai-Mexican inspired menu, however when we asked our waiter to recommend such dishes, he easily pointed out the Pad Thai, but other than the fact that the tuna avocado roll with watermelon visually had the look of a sushi roll (which would be Japanese) he didn’t appear to be very well informed about the menu. (The roll, by the way, was very nicely prepared and refreshingly delicious.) There were a smattering of other dishes with “Asian” ingredients in the description, but overall, the menu didn’t have much evidence of a Thai influence. The soft shell crab tacos were nicely executed, and the red snapper with risotto was delicious. We ordered the second fish dish, which had a beautiful presentation of vegetables, but was unfortunately ruined with dry, overcooked fish and lackluster sauce. The manager kindly apologized for the error and took care of it in the end. We finished the meal with the Pavlova and berries - crunchy,...
