Review: Pancho’s Backyard, Cozumel Pancho’s Backyard in Cozumel offers an exceptional dining experience that blends authentic Mexican cuisine with a welcoming ambiance. Located near the cruise ship terminal, it’s an ideal spot for travelers seeking a taste of local flavors in a serene yet vibrant setting. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick meal during a shore excursion or planning a leisurely dinner, Pancho’s Backyard delivers a memorable experience. The first thing you notice upon entering is the beautiful courtyard. It’s lush, adorned with vibrant tropical plants, and features a calming fountain in the center. The atmosphere feels relaxed and elegant, yet warm and inviting. Tables are well-spaced, offering privacy and comfort, and the attentive staff ensures you’re seated promptly and comfortably. The menu is a delightful exploration of Mexican cuisine, showcasing fresh, local ingredients. Their signature dishes, such as the shrimp tacos and the mole enchiladas, are bursting with flavor. For appetizers, the guacamole and freshly made tortilla chips stand out—perfectly seasoned and served with a hint of lime. The main courses are beautifully presented, with generous portions that strike a balance between tradition and innovation. Vegetarian options are also available, which is a thoughtful touch for those with dietary preferences. One of the highlights is their extensive drink menu. From refreshing margaritas to an impressive selection of tequilas, Pancho’s Backyard knows how to craft the perfect cocktail. For non-alcoholic options, their fresh fruit juices and mocktails are equally delightful. Service at Pancho’s Backyard is impeccable. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring every guest feels valued. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate special requests add a personalized touch to the experience. The live music adds another layer to the dining experience. Soft traditional tunes play in the background, enhancing the authentic Mexican vibe without overpowering conversation. This thoughtful detail contributes to the restaurant’s charming and lively atmosphere. Overall, Pancho’s Backyard is a must-visit when in Cozumel. It combines fantastic food, excellent service, and a picturesque setting, making it suitable for romantic dinners, family gatherings, or casual meals with friends. With its convenient location and consistent quality, Pancho’s Backyard is a gem that leaves you wanting to return for more. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cozumel!

To any tourists who come to this island, know that you're going to have a great time. Last summer, we decided to go on a peaceful cruise to a lovely island known for its calm beaches and lively culture. We were excited to try out a restaurant called Pancho's, which was highly praised by other travelers. As our cruise ship approached the island, we spotted Pancho's right by the ocean. The restaurant looked serene and cultural, with a wooden front decorated with colorful paintings and plants. Palm trees swayed gently, adding to the relaxing vibe. Inside Pancho's, we were welcomed by the sound of a live band playing traditional Mexican music. The music mixed with the smells of flowers and food, creating an inviting atmosphere. The restaurant itself was vibrant and cozy, with colorful decorations. We picked a table with a clear view of the ocean. The menu showcased Mexican dishes, and we ordered a variety to share. The quesadillas were delicious, packed with flavor and cheese. The nachos were also fantastic, served with spicy salsa. Each bite highlighted Mexico's culinary traditions. We enjoyed every moment at Pancho's, thanks to the delicious food, beautiful views, and soothing music. I highly recommend Pancho's to anyone visiting the island. Try the quesadillas and nachos with salsa—they're fantastic. The restaurant's ambiance is simply wonderful, combining culture, food, and coastal beauty. Personally, I really enjoyed the view. 🏝

The staff were very friendly and most were fluent in English. If they were not fluent in English, they grabbed a coworker to assist our server recommended a sampler platter, which most everyone at the table ordered, and it was extremely delicious. My adult children were thrilled with the Mexican Coca-Cola, containing cane sugar. The margaritas were fresh, the beer was cold, and the facility was extremely clean. The restroom was fully stocked with hand soap and paper goods and was clean as well. It was a great experience. There were a couple of gentlemen, playing music outside of the restaurant, across from where we were seated. I requested some Jimmy Buffett music and they obliged with Margaritaville. If you’re in the port, you should check them out!

What a lovely experience! The service here was very good! The host greeted me, and proceeded to serve me as well.

I mentioned to the server that I was interested in shrimp tacos. He got excited and showed me the special of the day, shrimp tacos for $12 (I think).

Four tacos, a serving of rice and Pico with chips for only $12! For the tourist area, the price was pretty inexpensive compared to others.

The shrimp tacos were very delicious! The shrimp is tempura battered and fried. They came with cabbage and a sauce. I added the pico to give it extra flavor and substance. The rice was pretty tasty too!

After eating, you can go shopping in the liquor shop connected to the store, convenient! So I went in, sampled some of the tequila and bought a couple of small bottles as gifts.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant...
