Aside from a major snafoo at check-in where there was an enormous communication barrier, the hotel itself was decent. It is certainly not what I have become accustomed to, however for what we needed it for (sleep and a place to store our luggage) it was fine. Restaurant: Breakfast choice was scarce - $7pp was a decent price, choices were fresh fruit, leftovers from previous nights dinner, and an omelet station. Lunch: didn't use Dinner: standard menu items - some Mexican choices, seafood, and burgers. a little pricey considering. Bar: happy hour is only from 5-6p, we missed it every day. Drink prices otherwise were pricey. $9usd for a pina colada. There is no direct beach access, meaning you cannot be laying out and go cool off in the ocean - unless you count walking across a pedestrian bridge, down two flights of steps, another 100 steps down some stairs into a rocky entrance to the ocean good access...
We were there while the Canadian exchange students were there, which we've read many reviews stating that these kids are not very well behaved. I have to admit I was a little worried, but was pleasantly surprised that I rarely noticed they were there. The only annoyance I experienced with them was a few occasionally smoking while in the pool and surrounding area.
Rooms were cleaned nicely -- we just didn't get the room we reserved, which led to a very rocky start/experience. Because of this, I cannot rate the hotel higher or recommend. The hotel offers the most affordable all-inclusive I have ever seen - $39/night pp. We did not use this as we wanted to eat/drink other places.
While the shore diving isn't phenomenal it is nice - use Dive Concierge located at the end of the pier in the hut. We did 4 tank dives, $20usd
With the mishap at check-in, travelocity shows 4 guests for the room we chose. When we got there the hotel charged us $48/night extra for my husband and 24yo daughter. There were only three of us total -- so what we thought was a great nightly rate turned out to be not so much of a deal, another reason we chose not to use all inclusive package.

Read morePretty good. Went with dive shop group. Probably could have given it 4, but i am the “Russian Judge” . Was required to participate in the meal plan because i was with a group. Reason given was a meal planner could share his food with a non meal planner. On dive days i had a pretty good breakfast that i kinda wolfed down because i had to go diving. Ate iight. Got American breakfast mostly but on last day tried something in Spanish and it was verrry good! On couple of non diving days went to Ernesto’s for wonderful eggs Benedict. Got a plate of fries to tied me over until dinner which i usually took a cab to restaurant in town. Hint, 3 superb choices’; Mingo’s for steak; Lacocoy, (Mediterranean, redfish wonderful) and guido’s. Chilango’s taqueria also good. Since i only have 1, maybe 2 beers after dive, ehhh. Kinda felt ..not money’s worth. But eating in town my choice. Place across street to right very good. Will go alone and not get meal plan.|Cool to sit by pool and watch cruise ships come and go and great view for people watching.|Front desk clerks friendly and helpful.|Dive operation very good. Plenty of room on boat to gear up.|Beware of taxi scam, maybe. Twice. They claimed not to have change. 10 dollar fare, gave a 20 and asked for a fiver back for a 5 dollar tip, which i thought generous. “Sorry Senor, no change” So i had to give entire 20. What retailer does not have change? So bring exact change.|They still use old style keys and needed to keep a key around neck for the safe . Some newer rooms had electric PIN safes.|Room nice and roomy , AC good, No ice maker but they kept an ice chest full of ice in hall.|I paid one price to dive shop for trip with dives. Did not itemize or ponder the price , but it did NOT seem too pricey.|Would and...
Read moreIt was great! Only complaint is the WiFi. I’m a diver and was here for a week on charter dives. It was some of the best diving and accommodations for the price that I could ask. Would be an easy 5 stars if the WiFi worked in my room. Room 322. Others from my party also complained about the poor WiFi signal and they were below and near me on my floor. What’s crazy is my phone would get signal while my computer said “no internet”. My phone dropped signal many times too. Really it’s an easy fix, so I hope they do it. 5/5 service, 5/5 diving and boat assistance, 4/5 room conditions (A/C works great, just no good safe for my things while I’m gone) 1/5 WiFi. Horrible WiFi. Like… so frustratingly bad I wouldn’t consider staying here if I was back in Cozumel. Internet is that important in my book, and it seems Casa Del Mar just isn’t up to date or something. I had mediocre WiFi 30% of my visit (which would have been fine if my connection didn’t drop for no reason every 5 minutes). The other 70% it ‘connected’ but no internet. Don’t expect to download or upload anything at least in my room. The lobby and restaurant seem to have no WiFi problems. Multiple travel companions of mine had the same internet issues. If they fix that, this place will be impossible to beat for its price. Want a great diving trip but not into connecting with the rest of the world while you are here? Casa Del Mar is your place for sure. Food is good, a few ‘misses’ in my book but many ‘hits’. Staff is kind and helpful.
Want to have amazing diving, decent food, and decent accommodations for a great price? This is your spot. Just don’t expect even mediocre internet. (This is easily fixable and I...
