Before I begin, I would like to put it out there that MY ratings are not “low” standards nor are they ever false (Ref: Paul Frankfurt 2/2024). I take personal offense. Sorry to those that did not get the opportunity to experience a better dining experience at Angelo’s as my friends and I did this week. We even went back to Angelo’s for round 2; both dining experiences exceeded our expectations. From the hostesses’ initial greeting, staffs’ professionalism and appearance, the ambience, the lighting, the decor, various seating locations and sizes, the variety of dishes and drinks and to the attentive and engaging servers (props to our server Alejandro). I will have to stand behind my higher rating on this one. Now, even though I did not find every single dish 100% a personal favorite, each dish presentation had its own uniqueness and taste. Let us also keep in mind the old saying, “beauty is in the eyes of beholder.” So, for those that were unhappy, maybe, give Angelo’s another chance. Or, don’t return….perhaps, Italian food may not be your jam. Simple. If you’ve never been to Angelo’s, I recommend a must-try. Also, reservation is recommended.

My likes: Cesar salad (with very little anchovies), mushroom garlic dish, calamari ripieni di gamberetti, carlaccio di salmon, ribs, clam chowder and fruit mojito drink.

I thought I would try gamberi alla busura. I love sauce. Unfortunately, this dish was a non-saucey dish. Also, another seafood dish (don’t remember name), was tastey. I prefer regular white rice. The rice on this dish was prepared mashy and wet. I would not order again for those reasons.

Price was fair.

Thanks to all staff including the Chef and kitchen staff at Angelo’s! See you...

If this is an authentic Italian restaurant, then I’m Napoleon. Where do I even start?

The menu itself looks fine, but the execution is a complete letdown. The vitello tonnato was bland. The salsa tonnata was oddly served on the side, which makes no sense, and the beef came topped with what seemed like peanuts, a completely unnecessary and nontraditional addition.

The salmon carpaccio was acceptable but unremarkable. Then came the pasta… The lasagna alla bolognese had nothing to do with the real thing. The ragù tasted more like a poorly made tomato sauce, and to make matters worse, it was garnished with rucola. Why on earth would anyone put rucola on lasagna?

The so-called shrimp ravioli weren’t even ravioli; they didn’t have the right shape of ravioli. All I could taste was cheese. No trace of shrimp at all. The flavor was bland, and the pasta itself was overcooked.

The fish fillet with tomato sauce and potatoes was another disappointment. The fish was very dry and flavorless, completely disconnected from the sauce, and the potatoes were still raw.

And finally, the tiramisù or rather, something pretending to be one. There was no taste of coffee whatsoever (I doubt any was used), the mascarpone was replaced with some kind of cream, and the dessert was topped with berries, which absolutely do not belong on a traditional tiramisù.

I'm disappointed. It’s misleading to call this place an...

The Italian Stallion of Mazatlan restaurants is officially crowned, in my opinion, of course! I finally made it past the doors to this pillar of Mazatlan eateries, only because I was turned away the night before for wearing a tank top. Yes, me, only to preserve the integrity of the high standards this historic place has established. If you're interested in a fine dining experience, with top-notch service, excellent cuisine, and the feel of a real Italian restaurant, then treat yourself to Angelo's. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty from every staff member, including those not serving us. Welcomes, waves, and smiles set the tone for a super enjoyable evening. The server Alejandro catered our every whim and added just enough service that we didn't feel overly interfered. The food, of course, was amazingly fresh, and its authenticity spot on. The drinks, salads, and bread complemented the meal perfectly. And if I had had enough room in my belly, I probably would have put away some of their dessert options that sounded delicious as well. The place was sparkling clean, and the prices were not the highest we've seen, but still not cheap. So if you're not cheap Eh, then take this place for a ride, and you just might like it! A...

Either these reviews are false or your standards are painfully low. Don’t be fooled by the seemingly upscale setting. The restaurant’s decor is beautiful and service is impeccable. Bottle of wine was superb and that’s it. The food was absolutely horrible. The spaghetti a la bolognese was a microwaved “Chef Boyardee” supermarket ready to eat meal, that was beyond boring and completely tasteless. The Saltimbocca a la Roma did not remotely resemble that dish, not to mention the mystery meat served was unappetizing, tough, quite greasy and simply nasty. This terrible experience was over $1,600.00 pesos for the evening which definitely did not match the low quality, rock bottom quality meal served.
