My girlfriend and I decided to eat here for new year’s dinner. The restaurant is gorgeous but unfortunately the service and food were a complete miss. There were prefixed menu options to select from including an appetizer, side, entree, and dessert costing roughly $250 dollars a person. After we were sat it took about 20 mins before a waiter even acknowledged us. We ordered our meal, sparkling water and cocktails and had to ask our waiter for our water and drinks after waiting another 20 mins without them coming. New years came about an hour after being there and we hadn’t eaten yet which was ok given we were enjoying the music and the owners going table to table toasting everyone. It really turned from there. For some reason after the count down the DJ and owners started getting in to their own toast and conversation at the DJ booth and I think they forgot they had a full restaurant. For some reason the DJ turned the music way down so they can talk and the whole vibe just fell off. The DJ was in this conversation at least half an hour with the music turned way down. Our ribeye entree then came out before any of the other food. We told the waiter our salad had not even come yet so they rushed our other food out as our steak sat there on a sizzling platter. By the time we got to the steak it was dry and overcooked. The quality of the steak itself was also mid. We ordered another round of drinks and waited another 20 mins before having to tell the waiter to go get our drinks… again. After finishing our expensive meal we asked for dessert which never came. After another 20 mins of waiting I had finally had enough and I had to tell both the waiter and the hostess. I got to the point where I just wanted to walk out.

The waiter knew how bad his service had been. He did give us a free shot every time we had to ask for our drinks to make up for the waits but 2 free shots nowhere close to make up for that experience. After telling the hostess to just forget about the dessert and that we just wanted to leave, at that point her remedy for the situation was to remove the dessert from the bill and give us a 10% discount. The dessert never did make it.

I just paid it to leave but realistically I should have just walked out halfway through the experience. I get they may have been busy but there were so many employees there just doing nothing. I have no idea how that was that bad especially for a new year’s dinner but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant after that. Maybe it’s better on a normal day? The positives I have to say are that the parking was free and the restaurant is gorgeous but that isn’t going to make up for bad...

I HATE to write negative feedback but after our experience, I felt I had to. We were staying opposite the restaurant and thought it would be nice to have dinner there tonight, Saturday 22nd April. So, we did. The welcome was impressive and the staff very attentive, it was 19:30 and the place was dead. Just two other tables… I thought this was odd for a Saturday night, anyway, after our experience I can understand why!! We ordered two medium filet steaks at nearly 900 pesos each, not cheap, but for good quality and service you can accept it. When my steak came out it was quite well done. I tried to eat it as I didn’t want to make a fuss, but after a couple of mouthfuls I told myself it was crazy paying this much for a dry steak! So, I discreetly called the waiter over and explained, and he instantly said “yes, that is not medium” and took it away. Of course, a new steak had to be cooked so I waited while my partner ate most of theirs. After some time, the replacement arrived. The waiter was very apologetic. All fine, although in all honesty the new steak was medium rare. I thought don’t make a fuss just cook it on the hot plate provided so I did….Then the bill came. I thought to myself surely, they’d take at least a glass of wine off out of courtesy… it was nothing about the money, more the principal. But sadly, the full bill. I felt it was quite rude, so again I politely asked the waiter why they hadn’t simply out of respect. HE then suggested getting the manager. So, the manager came over (the same guy with the long coat and necklace that had flambéed the steak). I can quite easily say I have never been spoken to so rudely before. He just didn't get the principal of good customer service! He even said, and I quote... "I'm confused why the manager has been called over for something like this" ... I could carry on and repeat a lot of the highly unprofessional stuff he said, however, in summary (for everyone’s sanity) the manager had zero professionalism and a restaurant demanding these premium prices needs customer service to match. It's worth a visit but god forbid if your steak comes out wrong ... be prepared for battle! Oh, and as the restaurant isn’t facing the sea, so it’s riddled with mosquitoes. Even though we were wearing ours, and very kindly, their mosquito repellent we were bitten, a lot. Maybe just get a...

We decided to make a reservation at Khyra Tulum for dinner tonight because it had some good reviews. Honestly, save your money and go somewhere else in the Tulum's hotel zone! The restaurant itself has a cool design. Saturday night and there were only like 4 tables when we got there at 8pm. That should have been a sign to go somewhere else 😉. We were all seated in a booth that gave you a feel the you were dining in the outside jungle 👍 We first order drinks to start... I ordered a lychee mojito (280 pesos) which was good but my friends ordered some cocktail drinks to start and they were wondering if it even had alcohol in them 🤷 For food, I ordered risotto con portabello (520 pesos) another friend ordered the soft shell crab tacos and two of them ordered the seafood ravioli. Let's start with my risotto con portabello...it was one of the worse risotto I've had. Risotto is supposed to have a thick creamy consistency. To be thickened with cheese. This risotto had a runny consistency (photo shows this) still with a few triangle slices of parmesan cheese sitting on the top of the risotto. The seafood ravioli was ok as I am told but my friends expected more for the price. Soft shell crab tacos was probably the best out of all our dishes ordered. The service was decent but for a night that wasn't busy it should have been exceptional especially if your charging prices like Khyra was. ...And why are you charging 280 pesos for bottled water...absolutely ridiculous! Our server Marco was ok but a bit on the slow side. Overall the food and service should have been better for what Khyra Tulum was charging. Sorry just being honest. I know food, I have many friends in the restaurant business in Vancouver that I support their business because their food is worth what they are charge. A couple of them just got Michelin...

Beautiful decor and a great place for an occasion. The negatives were that the music was unnecessarily loud and the open-air building allowed for mosquitos to attack our ankles while we ate. We ended up taking out shoes off and sitting cross-legged to defend ourselves from the mosquitos. Two DJs were pumping out loud beats which was fine but didn’t need to be that loud in a restaurant setting. The manager actually asked us about it and had it turned down a smidge afterwards but we heard the DJs crank it up again later. The positives were that the food was great and the service was good. Good-sized portions with plenty of veggie options. My girlfriend, a ceviche aficionado, claimed theirs was some of the best she’s had. The beef tartare was over-seasoned so you lost the taste of the meat but otherwise it was ok. The cocktails were quite delicious. The waitstaff seemed a little lost and confused but they were very nice. They surprised us with a birthday dessert and serenade. The manager paced around with a nervous energy but was very sweet when he checked on us and overall we could tell he was just trying to make things run smoothly. Loud music and mosquitos aside, I would recommend Khyra for the food for sure..

I recently went to Khyra Tulum and it was awesome! Right when I walked in, I felt super welcome. The place has a cool, chill vibe that makes you want to stay and hang out. The inside of the restaurant is really nice to look at. They've got comfy chairs and neat decorations everywhere. It feels like a lot of effort went into making it look good. I was happy to find out they have free parking. In a busy spot like Tulum, that's a big plus. It made getting there and leaving a lot easier. The people working at Khyra Tulum are great. They're friendly and always checking if you need anything. They know a lot about the menu and help you pick out good stuff to eat. Speaking of food, it's yummy and looks pretty too. They serve it like it's a piece of art! There's a lot to choose from, and everything I tried tasted fantastic. They also play nice music that fits the mood of the place. It's not too loud, just right for enjoying your meal and talking. Overall, I had a great time at Khyra Tulum. The staff is kind, the service is top-notch, and the whole place has a good feel to it. I'm definitely going back and would tell anyone to check it out.
