TULUM MINI GUIDE! A long weekend in the boho capital of Mexico is such a vibe. Below is a guide to my favorite sights, eats & places to stay. What are your favorites in Tulum? BEST SIGHTS AZULIK UH MAY A stunning art installation in the middle of the jungle. Step into a dome that rises up out of the jungle, filled with fluid sculptures, tree branches, plants and ceramics boasting earthy tones of tan, green, brown & white. CENOTE CORAZON Heart-shaped cenote in the middle of the jungle. CENOTE NICTE HA The large natural pool sits surrounded by rocks in the middle of the jungle. The water is incredibly clear, filled with lily pads, fish & underwater gardens. CENOTE VESICA A gorgeous fresh water cenote that has been converted into a day club, surrounded by boho loungers, branch canopies, a sun deck & open air restaurant in the middle of the jungle. COBA RUINS The Mayan complex of pyramids and temples is about an hour from Tulum. These ruins are unique because you can bicycle through the ancient city to the different complexes. THE HAND A massive wooden hand rises six feet out of the jungle for stunning views of the surrounding treetops. TULUM BEACH ROAD This 6 mile dirt path is the beating heart of Tulum, home to the best boutique hotels, restaurants, bars & beach clubs. It truly is a vibe. Explore both by bicycle and on foot. VAGALUME TULUM The boho beach club scene is plentiful in Tulum, and one of the best is Vagalume. An Instaworthy bridge held up by a pair of hands leads to a stretch of beach filled with wooden loungers, luxe grey cushions and boho white umbrellas. VEN A LA LUZ The iconic wooden sculpture created by Daniel Popper towers 33-feet high in the Tulum Sculpture Park. It used to sit on Tulum Beach Road at the entrance to Ahau, but now it’s set a few feet back from the road and requires an “entry fee.” BEST EATS Arca, Casa Banana, Delcielo, Gitano Meze, Hartwood, Kitchen Table, La Zebra, Matcha Mama, Posada Margherita, Raw Love, Taqueria Honorio & Ziggy’s BEST STAYS Ahau, La Valise, La Zebra, Nest Tulum, Radhoo & Zorba Tulum #tulum #tulummexico #ferngully #mexicotravel #cenotes

Posada Margherita in the Tulum beach area is a gem that shouldn’t be missed. I had the pleasure of indulging in their PROSCIUTTO E FUNGHI pizza, and it was an absolute delight. The combination of tomato sauce, prosciutto, mozzarella, and mushrooms creates a symphony of flavors that’s both savory and satisfying. Each bite perfectly balances the richness of the prosciutto with the earthy notes of the mushrooms, all brought together by the creamy mozzarella and the tangy tomato sauce. It’s the kind of pizza that lingers on your taste buds, making you savor every last morsel. To complement the pizza, I opted for the PINK FLAMINGO smoothie. Served in a mason jar, the mix of watermelon, lemon, and basil was both juicy and refreshing—a perfect drink for a day by the beach. The flavors were bright and invigorating, making it an ideal choice for cooling off under the sun. The ambiance at Posada Margherita is equally impressive. The decor is cozy and welcoming, especially at the entrance, setting a relaxed tone as soon as you walk in. The servers were amazing—attentive and provided excellent customer service, ensuring that the experience was top-notch from start to finish. You can also enjoy a sunbed for a minimum purchase, or simply relish the food inside with no minimum consumption, which makes it a versatile spot whether you want to lounge by the beach or dine indoors. Although I didn’t get the chance to experience the rooms, the design was incredibly attractive and appealing, and I’d definitely like to spend a night there in the future. If you’re in Tulum and looking for a fantastic meal in a beautiful setting, Posada Margherita is definitely worth a visit. It’s the perfect place to spend a leisurely Sunday by the beach, enjoying great food and drinks in a welcoming atmosphere.

A place I will always come back to! The food alone would be worth it; from the homemade pasta and pizza, the smell of focaccia when I wake up, to the gelato on the beach in the afternoon. But! For me it is the people the hospitality and warmth when I get there and how it truly feels like home on the beach. The attention to detail in the food carries over into the hotel itself, each room is perfectly decorated (I know because I’ve been back so much I’ve stayed in almost every single one!) to have a taste of Italy, the charm of the hotel, the beach and sunrise in the morning, AND the hospitality and warmth of everyone at Posada, I promise you won’t find a better place to spend your vacation or at the least a meal.

I can't even begin to describe what a slice of heaven this place is... truly. We discovered it by accident on our walk to the beach. After seeing a sign out front that read "Please do not enter if you have symptoms of racism, homophobia, bad vibes... and if you like pineapple on your pizza", we walked down the winding jungly pathway to the restaurant, met the owner, bought some gelato to cool down, and knew we would be coming back for dinner.

That night, despite the most torrential downpour we'd ever experienced, we made our way back around 8pm and sprinted down the partially flooded road to the entrance of Posada Margherita. Soaked and overjoyed to be there, we were seated by a very friendly male waiter whose name I wish I could remember. The atmosphere was a space of peace and coziness; a nice contrast to the hustle and bustle of Tulum. We had come hoping for a more laid-back vacation and found that most of Tulum is more of a party zone than expected, so discovering Posada Margherita was just what we needed. Even when busy, it's quiet and relaxed, tucked away from the street and chaotic beach clubs.

Included with any dinner order is their appetizer of focaccia bread, cheese, and lemon cauliflower, which was perfect for the three of us. The drinks were strong and the handmade pasta was the best I've ever tasted. I ordered the Al Gamberi- pasta with shrimp, zucchini, cherry tomato, and pine nuts. You have to remind yourself to slow down while eating because once you taste your meal, you'll want to inhale it; but as the rain slowed outside, we stayed present and enjoyed every last bite. I am home now, almost 4,000 miles away, and still thinking of the magic of Posada Margherita. Do not skip...

I cannot say enough about this gorgeous location for dinner. We arrived for our first trip to Tulum and on the first day, as we got acquainted with the area, we just happened upon Posada Margherita from the road. It's very unassuming and we almost missed it, except I love greenery and it lulled me in. As we walked through this long path lit by candles and covered in greenery, it felt like we were transferred to a tiny town in Italy! We arrived in the restaurant (in late May, it was pretty slow which made it even better for us!) and so we had our choice of seating. We sat inside but right at the "window" to the beach and was instantly greeted with service with a smile. We shared a margherita pizza, each had a soda, and had to try gelato and it was only US$45 with the tip! Given our beachfront view, amazing service, delicious food and the romantic ambience.... we could not have had a better experience! We even returned towards the end of the week because we loved it so much and sat in the sand all to ourselves. We were shocked they were not busier but must have just been due to slow season. Every staff member was attentive and accommodating, the pasta was okay but we preferred the pizza. All in all, this place...
