Where to begin with this restaurant. My friends and I went to this establishment to celebrate our friend’s 30th bday (a group of 11 girls). To back track a little bit, when my friend reserved the table, several months back, she was charged 3x’s for the deposit $475 x 3, the restaurant did refund the money eventually but this was a major inconvenience. Not a good start so far but we gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. Before we arrived to the restaurant we had already been celebrating our friend’s bday at the house and pre-gamed before the restaurant. Once we were seated at our table all the staff were nice and attentive. We already knew we were going to have the family style prefix menu so we just ordered some wine to accompany our meal. The food was ok not the best tasting but, you’re really there for the ambiance not the food. Then all of a sudden the waiter asked if we wanted shots. He never asked us if we would like to order shots but if we wanted some on the house. No one really wanted to order shots, as mentioned before we had already pre-gamed at the house and we were fine with just wine but as the waiter insisted and who can pass up free shots, we said ok. Once the shots came, some girls didn’t want to drink anymore alcohol, so we still had some shots left over, about 4 total. Then when the bill came we were flabbergasted that the bill included the shots the waiter offered us. We told management that no one ordered the shots but that they were offered to us. In addition, they charged us about $20 per shot! After arguing with management for about 20 minutes they said they would take out the shots, then come to find out they didn’t! The shots were still on the bill!!!! We didn't even finish them!!! This just goes to show how this establishment runs; it preys on tourists and especially large groups. On top of this they gave themselves a 15% tip. This put a downer on the rest of the trip as some of the girls wanted to go home from arguing and feeling cheated. Why would we order shots when some girls didn’t even want to drink? In addition, every time we ordered something, we inquired about the price because, although we are Americans, we work hard for our money and do not waste money frivolously. Our trip to Tulum was beautiful but this experience at the restaurant was the WORST part of the whole trip. Be careful at this establishment!!!!!! It’s been about a week and they still refuse to refund for drinks we never ordered/drank. My group has posted multiple reviews in order to warn people not to waste their hard earned money on an establishment that takes advantage of their clients. This establishment is also on a credit card watch list for fraudulent activity. All in all for a restaurant not to comp drinks for customers that spent over $1,000 is trivial and shows their poor standards. Please do not take down this review as people need to be made aware that this establishment will offer items as complimentary yet charge...

Read moreMoro restaurant at Habitas Hotel used to be a gem, where the ambiance, food, and energy all came together perfectly. Sadly, since the sale of the Habitas group and Eduardo Castillo's departure, that magic seems to have vanished.
During my recent visit, the food was a significant letdown. We ordered various side vegetables, and we chose the short rib and the fish for the mains. Unfortunately, the short ribs tasted like leftovers, lacking the rich, fresh flavor. The fish was dry, and the sauce separated, making it thick and flavorless. While the presentations were visually appealing, the taste and charm that once characterized this restaurant were absent.
The space by the sea remains as beautiful as ever, but it’s missing the attention and care it once had. What was once one of my favorite hotels now feels like a skeleton, holding only memories of what it used to be.
I sincerely hope the new management can restore this place's heart and soul. Moro and Habitas deserve the attention and love that once made them special.
Until proper care and changes can be made, a meal at Moro is not...
