Tourists, do not go here!
I went on our last night in Tulum to celebrate a friends 50th birthday tonight. They served all our appetizers and some of our dinner entrees together, which we thought was strange, but they looked busy so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then myself and a friend's entree didn't arrive after everyone else finished their food. They open the doors to do a happy birthday for another table in front of us as we were seated outside. They kept telling us to sing which was awkward considering that we weren't actually checked on at this point. I didn't have many spoons to sing for another table when it was our friends birthday and our service was messy. We finally were able to flag the waiter down after him having an extended conversion with a drunk man at his table. I asked if the rest of us were going to get their entrees. They said they weren't going to charge for our dishes that they forgot and that we'd wait for the food and brought a plate of dessert as an apology.
We paid for everything and they forgot to charge for a very expensive lobster dish we had. We asked for an itemized receipt to see what they charged. They charged for the dishes they said they would take off because they forgot them. They also charged us for the dessert that we didn't order that was supposed to be for the apology. We also reiterated that we didn't ask for the dessert.
I come from Chicago so I am no stranger to games. The place is beautiful and the food is good, but they do this to people for no good reason. We had a child at the table too. Seriously, shame on you all.
Go at our own risk. Especially if you are queer presenting or alternative lifestyle. We may all looked tattooed and modified, but we are all older adults on vacation who don't even drink and just wanted a nice night for our friends birthday on our last night there.
I've attached a photo of the room we celebrated in at home just before we went out to your establishment and you all ruined the mood of...
Read moreWas here today for a morning breakfast, and everything was going great until I ordered my second cup of coffee. The waiter totally forgot about my coffee until I asked one of the other waiters passing by if he could asked if my coffee was ready, the waiter finally came out and I asked him for some more creamer...needless to say my coffee was almost cold by the time he came back, after I had to get ahold of another waiter to ask about my creamer. No apologies or anything...ok, fine, whatever. I asked for the check, and I did the math from pesos to dollars. It came out to roughly $45 to $46 ...or so I thought. Today's(10/28/24) Mexican peso is valued at 20MXN to 1 US dollar. I gave him $60 and never returned with my $14 and change back. When I asked the waiter where was my change he looked at me with a confused look. He said your note is $60, I replied, No it's not! He said, we pay the dollar at 16 to 1. I said, your joking! He said no. He pointed to a paper behind a tinted glass and barely noticeable, located behind a bar that said 16 to 1. I was livid because after all that I noticed my note included the waiter's tip automatically! Watch out for these thieves! I speak English and Spanish and think I can get my way around town. Apparently, not here! All...

The restaurant boasts a stunning beachfront location with a laid-back yet chic atmosphere, perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. The ambiance is beautifully designed, blending modern elegance with the natural surroundings of the beach.
The menu is a delightful mix of creative dishes that blend traditional Mexican flavors with contemporary techniques. Each dish was not only visually stunning but also bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors. We especially loved the ceviche and grilled octopus — both were absolutely mouthwatering.
Our waiter, Santiago, made the experience even better. He was attentive without being overbearing, providing insightful recommendations and making us feel incredibly welcome throughout our meal. His enthusiasm for the menu and passion for ensuring we had a great experience were evident in every interaction. He was also very knowledgeable about the wine list, which helped us pair the perfect bottle with our meal.
Overall, Mina is a gem in Tulum, offering a perfect combination of great food, beautiful views, and exceptional service. If you’re in the area, definitely ask for Santiago — he’ll make your experience even...
