I recently had the opportunity to visit the restaurant at Azulik in Tulum, and while I must say that the overall experience was enjoyable, I cannot help but feel underwhelmed by the quality of the food considering the high prices. The restaurant boasts incredible views and a unique, mesmerizing ambience, but unfortunately, the culinary experience did not match up to the expectations.

Let's start with the positives. Azulik's restaurant is situated in a stunning location, nestled amidst lush greenery and overlooking breathtaking views of the ocean. The design of the restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind, with its open-air concept, rustic wooden structures, and the ethereal feeling created by the carefully placed lights and candles. It is undeniably a feast for the eyes and a perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.

However, when it comes to the food, I found myself disappointed. The menu offered a range of options, but the execution and flavors left much to be desired. While the presentation was artful and visually appealing, the taste did not live up to the expectations set by the ambiance. The dishes lacked depth and creativity, and some even seemed overly simplistic for the price charged.

One aspect that stood out as particularly overpriced was the "Nest" experience. This unique dining experience, where guests dine in a secluded treehouse-like structure, offers a sense of privacy and exclusivity. However, the steep price tag associated with this experience did not justify the value received. While the ambiance was undoubtedly enchanting, the food and service did not align with the extravagant cost, leaving me feeling somewhat disappointed.

Considering the high prices, one would expect exceptional quality and flavors that linger on the taste buds. Unfortunately, the culinary offerings at Azulik fell short of these expectations. It's not to say that the food was terrible, but it lacked the wow factor that would make it worth the premium price.

In conclusion, Azulik's restaurant in Tulum offers an unforgettable ambience and mesmerizing views that can easily captivate anyone. However, the underwhelming culinary experience, coupled with the exorbitant prices, detracts from the overall appeal. While the Nest experience provides a unique dining adventure, it may not justify its high price. If you prioritize atmosphere and views above all else, this restaurant might still be worth a visit. However, if you're seeking exceptional cuisine to match the enchanting setting, you may find yourself...

Christmas dinner at Tseen Ja in Azulik

I don’t know where to begin: so I will just start with the events that happened.

We have heard so much about Azulik and their properties and were super excited to have our Christmas dinner there. The property within itself is stunning.

I booked dinner for 11 of us who flew in from: NYC, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sweden, Denmark, Brazil and Saudi Arabia. We are a group of friends who decided to spend December in Tulum.

The day before I wanted to add 3 more people but the restaurant didn’t accept it.

Which was fine, and at the end we ended up being 9 people. Our booking was for 7.30 pm, all of us arrived on time. Once at the venue, we were told that they cannot sit our group of 9 people together, as they don’t have a tables for it. We couldn’t understand why they accept a booking for a large group if they and can’t seat them together, or inform the party prior of the situation.

They also didn’t have any tables available at all, so we had to wait by the bar for 45 min.

The hostess came and said: they cannot sit us together: but we could rent a nest upstairs for 500 USD and we had to spend 150 USD additional per person if we want to sit together.

Imagine how conned we felt, we put our trust in Azulik as they have a reputable brand so that our group could join together for Christmas. We didn’t expect being forced to rent a nest so that we can sit together.

We didn’t want the nest, that is not what we had signed for. After a lot of discussion they brought 3 high bar tables with high chairs and seated us in the bar.

While seated, we have our waiter recommending dishes. However they prepared meals for 8 people instead of 9. To be honest, the quality of food was 3/5 We ordered a bottle of Sake that wasn’t served until halfway in to dinner. Our party didn’t get cutlery or plates for everyone (multiple times throughout the dinner)

I know any establishment can have off days, however we thought Azulik was a safe choice for Christmas gathering. In hindsight, we really wish we have chosen a different venue. It just sucks that our Christmas dinner became so disorganized and the restaurant didn’t apologize or even offered anything to make it up for their mishandling.

I know that our review won’t do much to harm the Azulik brand, we are writing this so that the Azulik becomes more mindful of large groups and in future can...

We were going to stay at azulik but after reading multiple bad reviews we decided to stay at la valise which was SENSATIONAL FYI. We booked to eat here as we still wanted to see the hotel (kind of a bucket list thing when in tulum). However we were so disappointed. Don’t get me wrong the architecture of this hotel is INSANE, blows all of grand designs out the water. HOWEVER, on arrival they didn’t even seem to know we had a booking after showing them the booking multiple times and just looked confused. We had no idea there were two restaurants within the hotel to start but we wanted to see the sun set… when booking online there was no option to select a certain table etc it was just ‘make a booking’ then a section for requests so I said we would like a table where we can see the sun set. The woman who took us up said no you haven’t paid for that? When there’s no option or info online to pay? It was TEN THOUSAND PESOS for JUST THE TABLE. No food included what so ever. With just two people paying £500 plus food wasn’t an option! So we got sat on these like high stool things made out of sharp sticks that were SO uncomfortable, unstable and wobbly! There were no fans air con so it was like eating in a hot uncomfortable wooden steamy box as there was also smoke blowing everywhere and couldn’t see a thing. The place was also EMPTY and no music or atmosphere what so ever. To be honest we wanted to see the hotel more than anything but we went for dinner so before we knew it was dark and couldn’t see a thing! One wrong step and you would fall to your death. Anyway the bill came and it was £160 for 3 lots of sushi????? And I’ve had better sushi in a beach club in Marbella. Not only that my partners card was declined 6 times when it’s worked everywhere else just FINE. This was a travel card with all our holiday spending money on. When we got back to the room and checked the app there were 6 PENDING TRANSACTIONS FOR £900!? Which ARE STILL PENDING NOW as we sit in the airport. So we had to go to a money exchange and get more money as this place reserved most of our holiday money. If you want to explore the hotel go in the daytime and eat elsewhere. Go to Llios the Greek place the food is INSANE. Incredible atmosphere, service. Best...

My husband and I spent a week in Tulum. From all fine dinners experiences we booked, I was looking forward this one the most. We came in on Dec 5th around 7:30 pm. Ordered the omakase for both of us and we felt like they had no idea what they would serve us…(apparently it was all up to what they had in the kitchen that day, and we could see the sushi man talking to our server about it). As the menu does not specify what you are getting (it only says in a general matter that you will get seven courses including appetizer, rolls and sashimi), it got even more frustrating. What was supposed to be 7 courses for each of us, ended up being less than that because they would bring one course for both of us or plate 2 courses in one without really much thought. So the dinner experience was not the best and the food was just ok, not great! Plus they made us WAIT a LOT in between courses. I was sooo frustrated that I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. So, if you are looking for an amazing dinning experience, this is not the place. Just come in, have a drink in the bar, take pictures (the place is beautiful) and leave. I was dreaming about this dinner for a long time, we were celebrating our 6th anniversary, but honestly I left pretty upset. Is not worth the money.

Sadly this place did not hit for me. The place is absolutely amazing, the treetop vibe is soo unique and I was dying to go for the experience. The overall 3 stars is for that alone. The only all across the bridges, the walkways above the treetops and the super cool birds nest table areas are sooo unreal. But we paid $500 just to reserve the table and our food was barely blehhhh. We ordered a steak and it was to come raw and be hibachi style. Which was literally just a small table top bbq brought to the table. But for the price, we had our waiter stay at the table and cook it for us haha. Yet, it was sooo extremely bland, still somewhat cold and didn’t come with any optional add-ons. Literally an empty plate, while we stared at the silent waiter cooking it at the entrance of the table. Even though he came back to check on us often, it still felt like we were left unattended for quite a while. We took our own photos, which was somewhat awkward sitting on the floor in a birds nest that was round in shape. I wish we were encouraged to stay in the bar area, which had a lounge style vibe and wouldn’t have cost so much. Overall, dinner and drinks was another few hundred dollars, including the table price, we were in $1k. That’s insane, and we didn’t finish our plates.
