I was so excited to treat myself to a nice dinner to wrap up my trip. The beach view was beautiful. The drinks were great. The service started off amazing. Server asked do i speak Spanish… i do, so i said yes- although it is my second language. I asked the server their favorite between Chiles rellenos or lobster risotto. She beautifully described both but states her favorite was the risotto. So I ordered that. I took a few bites. Tasted great! However I quickly realized there was no lobster and it appeared the kitchen made me the mushroom risotto by mistake. I brought this to the attention to the server who quickly changed her tune and claimed I ordered the mushroom risotto. Instead of attempting to make anything right, apologize for any miscommunication, or offer to add a little lobster to the dish (would have gladly paid the price!), she instead continued to tell me I don’t know what I ordered and that I probably “shouldn’t have ordered in Spanish, then”. The entire experience was ruined because of the poor response from this server. Not only did she fail to try to help make the dish what I had hoped, but she also decided to insult a paying customer. Give me slow service, busy service, incorrect orders, even bad food… I have spent 10 years of my life in the restaurant business and have been blessed to never have had such poor...
Read moreThe view was not bad (a bunch of sargasso on the beach) however, the food was abysmal. We ordered the filet mignon and it has to be the worse one my boyfriend and I have ever had! The meat was chewy and did not have an ounce of flavor. I am not a difficult client by any means however, it did not taste like it even had any salt. When I brought it up to the head chef, he said there wasn’t anything we could do since he personally tasted the sauce and the mashed potatoes. My problem was not with the sides… He said it was just us that did not like the flavor. But he struggled to understand that there was NO flavor to be liked or disliked. He said all he could do was reheat (great, an even drier steak) and salt it. Now I have to worry whether they maliciously meddled with the food. Edited to add: service was also abysmal, by the head chef. I told him in the restaurant business it is not considered good etiquette to tell the client that it is her taste that is bad and not the food that he prepared (hello, bias). He responded by saying that I just took his words the wrong way. Umm.. he verbatim said those words. He was unapologetically condescending the whole time. I am astounded that he is the head chef.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR GO TO MINA NEXT DOOR. MUCH MUCH BETTER...
Read moreWhile waiting for our hotel room to be ready at Piedra Escondida, my family and I decided to have lunch at Molcajete. We were warmly greeted by Nayeli, who made us feel right at home. Each of us ordered different seafood dishes, and every plate was presented like a work of art. The Garlic Shrimp was juicy and full of flavor, and my daughter loved the fried calamari with sauce, calling it “sooo good.” The food tasted absolutely delicious, and it was evident that they used fresh, high-quality ingredients. Since we love fresh, delicious seafood, we decided to return for dinner. This time, Martin greeted us and brought out various seafood dishes that did not disappoint. The octopus dish was succulent, and the Guajillo Shrimp was incredibly tasty. Enjoying the exquisite food while taking in the beautiful ocean views made our entire stay worthwhile. The aroma of freshly cooked seafood and the sound of waves crashing added to the serene ambiance. Overall, Molcajete provided an unforgettable dining experience that we will cherish for...
