If you are looking for a terrible time, in Mexico, do yourself a favour & book a stay at this hotel.

Pros: -Polite / Nice staff. -Relatively nice Beach. -The greenery is nice and you will see cats and lizards. -You can rent transportation. $$$. -They are located near the coast. So, lots of options when it comes to restaurants and shops.

Cons: -No real main entrance. No lobby, It is located behind a parking lot and is across the strees from the hotel. It looks like they turn a random building, into a hotel. -Only salt water coming from the shower and the sink in your room. It burns, if u get a drip in your eyes and let's not talk about the taste, if a drip lands on your lip (and it will). -No matter how hot your room is, the staff turns off the breakers to rooms during the day (9 am). This results in Wi-Fi that just stops and no AC. They turn it back on at 9 pm (sometimes). When u tell them ur very hot, they still will not turn it on. -Your room will be full of mosquitoes. This is because all of the the windows and doors have a half an inch opening which allows them to enter without issue. We had to use toilet paper & clothes (see pictures) to block the holes, to get respite from the barage of bites. -You will also find many other types of bugs (Roaches, Ants others) in ur bed, your shower and your walls during your stay. The bugs love this hotel. -The windows and doors all face crucial areas in the room. Meaning, the bathroom window, faces the shower and is body length. Also, the bedroom window faces the bed. So any of the hotel construction workers that are constantly outside your room, or guests can see the action in your Bathroom and Bedroom. And, the one curtain, is translucent. So, very useful. -You will get 2 towels and find stains in them, your sheets and your pillowcase. -You will hear other upset guests from your room, arguing with hotel staff because, they too are sticky, dirty, hot & uncomfortable and the staff is not helping them. -You might be lucky to be woken up, like I was, by the construction staff banging, drilling, sanding & singing loudly to their work radio (that was free of charge). -The view from your room (see pictures) will be a wheelbarrow a random bike some planks of wood and bags of rock and dirt and of course, some random guys and the greenery. -You will find cigarette buds in the planter by the door to your room. I can see how those planters could have been mistaken for ashtrays. 2 days later, the cigarettes were gone and there were plants in there. -They do not give you the option for cleaning your room, they just do it. I prefer to now have ppl clean my room but I could not stop them. -You will hear the noise from the street. Cars, Trucks, Motor bikes engines, at some point I thought I heard a horse. But you will hear everything that is outside of your room. -A lot of light comes into your room at night. So, buy something to cover your eyes. -No dresser, fridge, toster, TV, safe, coffee or tea will be found in your room. This is not luxury and it is not Romantic. -The juice from the breakfast, separates and does not taste right. You can see the particulates. -The beach is a nice place to get away from the mosquitoes. There are beds, nooks and hammocks that you will not be permitted to sit on because the restaurant/hotel that shares the beach, has all of the nice spots and you can't sit with them. You will only find out when the staff from the other hotel tells you to move and you get to sit on the 3 lame spots reserved for you. -Last but not least anytime you're in your room, you will hear this pumping sound every 15 seconds. It's like Chinese water torture.

Overall, I leaft with a gastro and a lung infection.

So, enjoy your...

HORRIBLE experience!! Please read before you consider staying here.

We booked a three-night stay in May 2024 through Expedia and we quickly left after staying one night. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough!! There were ants in the bed all night, they only provide air conditioning between 9 pm-9 am, the water coming out of the sink faucet/shower is not safe for drinking nor brushing your teeth, and it was overall a very uncomfortable experience dealing with this hotel's management team.

First, the hotel room was an overall uncomfortable place to stay. The hotel room had none of the typical comforts that can be expected in Mexico for the same price: No phone, no TV, no fridge, and basically no furniture. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was that the mattress was also hard as a rock and both of us were very uncomfortable.

Bugs could easily enter the room as the air conditioning machine, windows, and door had small gaps and were not properly sealed. I woke up around 6:30 am and took pictures of the ants crawling around the bed and my partner and I were horrified. We also had several mosquitoes in our bedroom that night.

When I booked our stay on Expedia this hotel's page on Expedia says they have AC, a shower, and a sink. All very misleading. They only provide air conditioning between 9 pm-9 am which was not clearly stated prior to booking. It took over an hour for the small wall AC to cool the room down. So whatever temperature it is outside that’s the temperature in your hotel room. During our trip in May, the weather was 90F (aka 32C) all day and with the high humidity, our weather app said it felt like 100F (38C) in Tulum. Imagine, no lounging in the hotel room during the day. No coming back from an excursion to shower, be comfortable, and relax. You’re just going to bake in your concrete hotel room and be miserable with the tropical heat.

They also provided us with a big jug of water and told us to use the jug of water for brushing our teeth and washing our faces. They said the water coming out of their shower and faucet is very salty and not safe/clean for drinking. They asked for our WhatsApp phone number and told us they had no phones in their hotel rooms. I don’t have WhatsApp, It's really not that expensive to put phones in the hotel rooms.

The next morning when I tried to talk to the front desk about checking out early, I spoke to David at the front desk. He was very nice but he said he was unable to help me get a refund and I needed to speak to management. I was then told management is not on site and they have their office in Cancun city 2 hours away. David also was not able to share his Manager's contact information including: names, location, phone number, email address, or anything. Major red flag!! Try calling the hotel yourself. I included a picture of their business card they have in the hotel. They do not answer the phones or respond to email. Both myself and Expedia tried calling La Posada Del Sol multiple times to discuss getting a refund and they never picked up the phone nor replied to my emails. It took me several calls with Expedia to get a refund and overall, it was a bad experience staying at and dealing with La Posada del Sol.

We ended up staying at another hotel down the street that was cheaper, had air conditioning, clean water, phones in the room, soft comfortable beds, mini fridges, and good service. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend staying...

This Boutique hotel has a nice architecture, some nice rooms with a splendid ocean view (notably Cielo / Luna rooms, recently added or remodeled is my guess) but it is definitely worth reading the reviews (this, and before me) before you book. ||I mistakenly booked this hotel some 4 months ago, stupidly not considering the low season during Sept- November. One can easily get great accommodations at discounted prices everywhere in Yucatán.||The hotel staff were unable to refund us (booked via Booking.com) but were able to upgrade us to the Luna and Ceilo rooms which are a big upgrade to their “conventional”rooms. These rooms include a splash pool on the terrace (Ceilo faces morning sun but does not have a shade) and make up for the limited access to the otherwise public beach. Yet, also there rooms could use significant improvements which I discussed with the hotel management and definitely include getting rid of the heavily chlorinated water that runs through their taps (unnecessarily since neighbors use clean water).||Rooms have: no fridge, have small and insufficient amenities, have fresh water from a glass vessel; have little space to hang towels, do have tripping hazards (especially night time in the Ceilo room), do not have a great mattress and have low water pressure (chlorinated water) for shower and tap.||During our stay the use of the airconditioning was unlimited; see comments from others.||The beach is nice; the room on ground floor with sea view (cannot recall name) has no separate room for shower/ toilet. When we checked it out, it smelled like mildew was growing either in the aircon or room walls. Definitely not a recommendation. ||I have no experience with their garden rooms but please read the reviews.||This boutique hotel has so much potential, but due to these lacking small things and the chlorinated water I’d definitely would not...

This hotel is unique; we had one of the rooms upstairs, with partial ocean view. I loved its furnishing and architecture, which reminded me of Casa Milà by Gaudì in Barcelona. I also totally appreciated their low impact policy and embraced it; yes, the lights in the room are low but they provide candles and even mosquito repellent. Yes, you can’t use air con all day but they provide a fan, which is healthier. I also appreciated the honey-based shower gels, which have less impact on the environment. The staff is super helpful: we arrived with a punctured tyre and they immediately offered assistance and support. We chose not to have breakfast included and I think I have missed out, if only for the beautiful Talavera pottery they use! There is no swimming pool, the beach is very nice, they have protected sea turtles nests but unfortunately we all know about the sargassum problem, so we couldn’t swim there. There would be just one thing to be aware of: if you come with your car, the parking space is limited and we had trouble finding the hotel at first because the reception is in the boutique. But it’s absolutely no big deal. Just be aware that there are two parking lots close by that will try to lure you in. Check with Posada first if they do have parking space available! Thank you guys for a wonderful stay!
