Wife and I decided to spend two nights at Azulik after a 6-night stay at another location nearby.|We arrived around 11am, well before the 3pm check-in but were welcomed, given our bracelet and sent to the cleansing ceremony. We were free to explore until check-in. We opted for the couples ritual/massage that ended with a botanical bath and champagne. Also had use of the steam room and sauna prior. Awesome massage and amazing location up on the side of the cliff tucked under the rocks.|Finished around 3:30 so we went back to the lobby for check-in. We were essentially checked in already, so we were just given the room key and shown to our rooms. We opted for the sky villa (#25) which in my opinion, are the best rooms at the resort. |Room was beautiful! Yes, there was an A/C and there were a couple strategically placed small led lights throughout the room. Didn't need candles but we lit them anyway to add to the ambiance. Only found one plug near the bed which wasn't a deal breaker but a little bit of an inconvenience for the wife while using the hair dryer. Had hot/cold water in both the indoor and outdoor tubs. Indoor had a shower head as well if you would rather shower. No shower curtain so you will make a mess on the floor but nothing that a towel won't soak up. Privacy was minimal but I never once saw anyone walking on our villa level looking around. I did drape a towel over the blinds in front of the tub to give the wife a little more privacy. Neither one of us felt uncomfortable at any point. Zero privacy outside on the swing or in the tub if you opt for a "romantic" moment unless you wait for the middle of the night and have little moon light.|Beach was a miss with the terrible seaweed situation but can't fault the resort for that. Layout was nice and I can see it being super fun when the seaweed resides. No one was on the beach either day we were there. Weather was spotty so I'm sure that had something to do with it.|Navigation around the place was a little challenging since there were hardly any signs directing where to go. We were late for our first night dinner reservation at Tseen Ja since we thought it was in the front of the resort. Worked out fine since the whole restaurant was reserved for the sushi event. That was great but took nearly 4 hours to complete the 10 courses. Service was absolutely excellent though and drinks were kept full. I've never seen people take more selfies and photos of random crap in my entire life then at that event. Different generation!|Second night reservation was at Kin Toh and we opted for the chef's experience where we had no idea what would be serviced. That was excellent and I highly recommend it! 4 courses for apps, 4 for mains and 4 for desserts. Amazing!|We were planning to go to the rooftop place after dinner only to find out that its only open from 5-7 or 5-8. The host was gracious enough to escort the wife and I up there to be able to see it and take a few pics. We would have visited that first, enjoyed the sunset and then went to dinner had we known. No big deal.|Elixir was a neat little place with a great atmosphere. The green "health" drink was killer. We had multiple different tacos for lunch, all which were fantastic!|We also did the Cacao ceremony earlier that day which was pretty interesting not to mention visually amazing. Visited the museum next door which was "ok". Nice architecture but nothing else to look at.||Pros:|Place is gorgeous and well kept|Hot water and AC |Wifi worked perfect everywhere|Food and drinks were top notch|Small enough to get around in a day|Takes you out of your element (a good thing)|Nothing but respect from the staff||Potential Cons:|Minimal signage (could have used a map or an app with a map)|You're in a treehouse so maneuvering around could be tough for some. Not impossible though!|Rooftop closes early (would have been cool if this was open late and had the DJ up there)|Yes, food and drinks are expensive but worth it if you shorten your trip|Guy blowing conch shell all night was annoying (my only complaint :)|Sky villa thatch roof had a couple very small leaks in a heavy rain storm||Other Points:|Zero odors that others mentioned they experienced |Zero issues with wildlife or insects|AC's in our room didn't do much since the entire roof is thatch with several gaps along the wall line so expect a humid room. Fan above the bed was perfect while sleeping though.|The beach isn't as private as I thought (neighboring resorts with wondering kids) so you may pass on the clothing optional privilege. |The woodwork around the rooms is weathered which to me, adds to the experience. Don't expect high-gloss teak wood.||This is the type of place that you will fully get out what you put into it. If your expectations going in are that you want to be in a 5 star, wipe your butt and spoon feed you hotel for the week, you're going to be miserable. |If you go in knowing that you are essentially in a treehouse and open your eyes to the beauty and experience of the place then you will have an amazing time! Take advantage of the experience and disconnect from all the BS in life!||I think we got what we needed out of two nights, but I would like to go back again to experience the roof top sunset and the beach. ||If I had to make a recommendation, I'd opt for a full week in Tulum split between Azulik and another place.||All in all, an excellent time in Tulum and a great...
Read moreAzulik advertises an experience that they DO NOT DELIVER. With a daily cost of over $3,000 usd per night. This place is a SCAM and their "hospitality" is non-existent.
I highly suggest reading other reviews for this place prior to making a reservation. Other negative reviews I've seen accurately reflect what also happened to us (couldn't believe it). Do not get fooled by the Influences they pay to say 'nice' things.
MY REVIEW:
Over our three night stay, we had the following issues:
NO HOT WATER. For 2 of the 3 days, we did not have hot water in the room. Most rooms at the hotel do not have a stand-up shower, so the lack of hot water made it difficult to use the tubs (which were advertised as a luxurious experience). No one wants to take a COLD bath.
NO DRINKING WATER. The hotel provides 4 small bottles of water per day. One day, we requested our free daily water and we were told by staff that they had none & that we should walk (at night for ~20 minutes) to get water from the nearest 7-Eleven. We were told at the time that we couldn't even purchase water from the hotel. I've NEVER stayed at a hotel and been told I can't get water to drink.
LOUD MUSIC ALL NIGHT. Each night music was loud enough in the room that is shook the windows and vibrated the bed. The 3rd night was the worst as it lasted for about 10 hours (from 7:30 pm to 5:00 am). We made multiple complaints and no remedy was offered or attempts from the staff made to resolve in ANY way. My partner even tried to sleep on the floor to try and limit the noise.
BAD ROOM CLEANING. To exemplify this, there were days we were only given one towel (for two people). Another day the staff did not light the candles (which is the only source of light in the room - no electric lights). Another day they didn't put any water in the room.
GROSS COMMON BATHROOMS. My partner went to the restroom in the Kintoh restaurant on the last day around 3PM and every toilet in the women's bathroom was clogged with poop and unusable. No one seemed to have cleaned the bathroom since the previous day.
HOSTILE TREATMENT TOWARDS GUESTS. Our friend came to meet us at the lobby for a cocktail. He told security that we were coming downstairs to meet him. Instead of directing our friend to the front desk or letting him know of the guest policy, the security got physically aggressive towards him and walked him out of the building - essentially accusing him of lying. To grant them access to the building the front desk later said we needed to pay $300 USD. Although I think this is ridiculous, the real problem is how the situation was handled, how they treat people and lack of disclosure of such a policy.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. As an example, we arrived at the hotel and were told that we would be taken up to the room ASAP (estimated 15 minutes). Four hours later we still didn't have access to the room. At that time, we were only given ONE room key and quickly got locked out. When we asked for another room key they asked for justification (we have TWO people listed on the room). Then on day two, the keys didn't even work and we were locked out again.
NO TRANSPORTATION. The day before our departure I asked for help arranging a ride to the airport. We were told that the staff needs at least two days notice to help with such requests.
DISORGANIZED. The checkout process took over an hour at the front desk. Which also made us late for the car service we arranged for pickup. Part of the delay was management, the other part was because they tried to give us someone else's bill and couldn't find our initial credit that we opened with them to enable room charges.
Our overall experience with interacting with hotel staff is that the staff is trained to treat the guests more like prisoners than guests. When we tried to bring up the issues we faced, no one wanted to help us at all.
In general, this business is SCAMMING their guests with false advertisement. It more closely resembles an RV campground in the Jungle than...
Read moreWell this review is for one of our best vacation at Azulik Hotel in Tulum, Mexico where we stayed at Sky Villa to begin with followed by their most exquisite Aqua Villa and let me tell you the experience was truly extraordinary.
Staff and Team: From the moment we arrived, the staff and team especially Regina from Angels team who made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. Shoutout to Hugo who took care of every small request and helped us a lot during our stay. Regina and Hugo were friendly and welcoming and were always available should you need them for anything. Special Thanks to Ed Rebollo as well who helped us with our bookings for experiences and stay as we tried everything that the hotel had to offer its guests.
Aqua Villa and Hotel: The villa itself was exquisite with its unique architecture that blends modern luxury with elements of nature. Every corner is full of fascinating details and carefully arranged to build an atmosphere of tranquility. The unique architecture of Aqua Villa and hotel sets an atmosphere that is truly mesmerizing and awe-inspiring. Strolling through the rustic style and vibrant energy surrounding me, we felt more alive than ever before.
The Aqua Villa was nothing short of extraordinary; it exceeded all my expectations. Every detail was well thought out and designed to perfection; credits to Roth and his team, from the gorgeous door to in room spa with views of the Caribbean Sea to its zen outdoor terrace with tub perfect for taking in the breathtaking beauty around me. It also had a space for private message inside the villa and it was such a relaxing moment for both of us.
Nest Experience: We booked a nest as well at Kin Toh restaurant to celebrate our anniversary dinner and it was truly magical to watch the sunset and enjoy the lovely cocktails. The food at Azulik's restaurants is also quite exquisite. There are numerous local specialties on offer for every taste and preference.
Sfer Ik Uh May: Well this is one of the splendid work of architecture that we have ever witnessed and to see this in a museum was truly breathtaking. Great work by Roth. The food at Jungle cuisine was also quite delicious.
Mirador Rooftop / sunset experience: We were lucky enough to witness the opening of this wonderful rooftop area and got invited for same to enjoy the lovely cocktails prepared by the master himself. The mixologist was truly an exceptional artist in his craft and prepared some delicious cocktails. He was also kind enough to share the recipes as well for same as i loved the Azulik Mezcal that they had launched as well. The rooftop offered breathtaking views of the sunset.
Photography team: Well since we love capturing special moments, we had booked for sessions with their in house team and it was truly a wonderful experience. Special shot-out to Gama, Nico and Santiago for being such awesome people to shoot with as they took some wonderful shots for us and we ever grateful for them.
In the end, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Javier Martinez and his whole team who took special care of us during the whole week of stay at Azulik. We really loved the hospitality and warmth in all interactions, so thank you Javier for making this a memorable stay for us.

Everyone from the staff to the members of all different areas strive to create an unforgettable experience for each individual guest through their warm hospitality and attention to detail - making it easy to see why they have become so popular among travelers worldwide!
