Bastion 1 — Restaurant in Kotor

I'm giving this place a high rating in my opinion just because of the fantastic food quality. They must have a great chef. The squid I had were the best I have ever experienced. On the other hand I have a very low opinion of the service. In my two visits to the place, I got a feeling of false courtesy by the waiters. If you're a reach German or French, they will probably bore you with constant interruptions (as we saw in the expressions of some guests). On one occasion, we only wanted to eat an ice cream and drink a coffee while passing through. In an empty restaurant the waitress looked around paused and said "well ok". When my girlfriend ordered only the coffee, an the waitress emphasized "only coffee" with a scent of irony. In my opinion this is unacceptable for a restaurant. Also she took the liberty of tipping herself without asking (and quite a good percentage). I figured this out only a couple of steps later when I counted the change. I don't like to argue with people so I left it as it is. At least this way I can share my experience with others to give a hint of what to expect. Hopefully their chef will find a better place...

This is an elegant restaurant serving quality food for people who treat food n those who prepare n serve it with respect. It's an elegant restaurant that demands quiet enjoyment n good table manners. What a gem. Indeed, a last bastion against the tide of uncouth humanity that is invading Montenegro. Let's work to protect it. 26/6/25 I decided to dine here for the second time after not being able to find a table for one lower down the Old City. Seems that good things require more effort. I count my blessings as the Pasta Gamberi was very good as was the salad n wine. Our experience in this restaurant was short and particularly bad. We went in, intrigued by the menu, which offered rather attractive prices. This was a deception. On questioning the waitress, we realized that the price of the dishes corresponded to a small portion of the dish. We gently explain to her that this doesn't suit us - we're on a tight budget. The waitress asks us to follow her because we had to pay for the bottle of water we'd bought earlier. She ARBITRARILY added a FIVE € service charge. These were not indicated anywhere. A scam accompanied by insults in Serbo-Croatian that the waitress didn't think...
