I had a lovely trip to the Kotor Cats Museum in June 2023. I was charmed by the quirky nature of fhe establishment which provides support to the multitude of (generally healhthy, happy, and well looked after) vagrant cats which reside in Kotor. The museum is small but oozes character; there isn't a spare inch on it's walls which are decked out with a vast range of depictions of cats engaging in a wide range if both contemporary and historical behaviours traditionally reserved for humans. A few personal favourites include Mewsi and Purnaldo, paint me like one of your french cats, and a depiciton of a ritual/torture style castration of a cat as if it were taking place in medieval England (all pictured below).
Alongside this humour, there are a range of historicalky significant graphics which feature our furry feline friends - such as a WW1 propaganda piece by the Belgian armed forces depciting Germany as an evil cat assailant poised to do combat with the Belgian mouse (also pictured below).
All in all this place is a great place to spend 20-30 minutes for cat lovers, art appreciators, and...
Read moreAccording to another negative review here, they clearly like Putin. I'm rather glad they've never been open whenever I've been in Kotor and therefore not received my money. In any case, they're now closed until May 2024 anyhow. They should always update their opening hours here on Google Maps, because we (and many other tourists) have had wasted journeys trying to access their museum. Btw, if the owner is reading this, your response to the lady who complained about the Putin magnet was both disgustingly rude AND brainless - she's hardly going to like Lenin and Stalin either, for one thing, if she's offended by you selling magnets of Putler! (Though, having read your responses to other negative reviews, vitriolic rudeness is hardly unusual for your general conduct.) Also, kindly remove Putin's images far, far away from those of the late Queen Elizabeth II, because she...
Read moreFive stars because the basic idea is good, the entrance is cheap, wide and interesting pictures, postcards, for charity... But my opinion is that Kotor deserves a much bigger, more interactive cat museum in a frequented place, maybe a more child-oriented one... Such a city where all souvenirs are based around cats and there are many cats around. old town, it deserves a really bigger museum! I expected to hear about the lifestyle, distribution, anatomy, interesting features of cats, their habits, breeds, Egypt, why they became symbols of Kotor, etc. etc., we could learn a lot of interesting things. you can enter the museum... Some opinions are really the opinions of idiots... especially those who expect live cats... this is not an exhibition,...
